Cure #16: "Looking for Mr. Goodbar": The Lust Cure

     What is Lust?

Lust is a signal from your Physical (Matter) Body that that you are putting too much attention on the "animal desires" that "come along" with human flesh. In other words, if you are a glutton for sex, food, alcohol, money, power, or any other "material" things, you are in lust. One of the goals of being a spiritual being in a human body is to be "in this world but not of it"… not of it's "baser material desires".

Emotions Closely Related to Lust: Food/Alcohol/Drug/Sex Addiction
Qualities Need to Resolve Lust: Love, Discrimination, Purity, Clarity
Energetic Sources: Physical (Matter) Body, Root Chakra

What is Lust Trying to Tell You (It's Spiritual Purpose)? The spiritual purpose of Lust is to powerfully pull us toward learning any "uncompleted lessons of the flesh". For it is these uncompleted lessons that reveal the unresolved spiritual issues that we have as spiritual beings. Lurking beneath the surface of our "lustful desires" are the illusions of fear that keep us on the wheel of reincarnation and karma until we learn to be free of them. This is an essential part of our unfoldment into greater levels of mastery. For we learn to master life (health, relationship, finances, work, etc) so that we can evolve into spiritual mastery.

How NOT to Respond to Lust: The worst thing you can do is to give into your lusts. Lust is never ending waves of desire that wash over you and threaten to "pull you down". The only way to truly master lust is to channel it's power to serve you (like a surfer who rides the waves) instead of struggling against it. And the only way to channel it is by understanding "what lies beneath" it. For "as you let go of the security of your insecurity (of your desires), all things are possible." (Aliah)

How TO Respond to Lust - The Lust Cure: The way to respond to lust is to understand the unresolved spiritual issues that lie beneath the "uncontrollable" lustful desire and take steps to heal the issue. Below are some of the more commonly experienced lusts along with the underlying spiritual issues and their "cure". These cures include: 1> Channeling Physical Lusts, 2> Channeling Mental Lusts, and 3> Channeling Emotional Lusts.

Lust Cure Part 1: Channeling Physical Lust is done by using these techniques:

    * Physical Lust - Food Addiction: Normally, food is relaxing and comforting to the body because food gives life and support to the body. Problems result when food is routinely used to soothe and comfort the spirit. If you are more than 25% over the normal weight for your height and frame, chances are excellent that you are addicted to food. Yet "throwing down" more food to make you feel "less empty inside" only temporarily alleviates the feeling while giving you permanent fat gain.

Food addiction tells you clearly and simply that what you are really "lusting for" is love… romantic, intimate love. And in our youth oriented, looks conscious society, the surest way to repel potential romantic partners is to be overweight. So look deep inside yourself for the patterns in your consciousness keeping your fat in place (see "Weight Cure") and choose to honor your body instead of larding it with fat.

    * Physical Lust - Alcohol Addiction: Alcohol is any beverage that when consumed is designed to make you "drunk". Yes, beer and wine coolers are alcohol. And, yes, any beverage with alcohol content can and does lead to alcoholism. Each and every bottle of alcohol should come with this warning label.

"WARNING: For those who are unable to experience joy normally, the contents of this bottle will seem to make you feel joy. Harmful side effects include loss of family, friends, self respect, and money, death of "innocent" drivers on the road, temporary and permanent impairment of mental and physical functioning… so be sure to drink up and enjoy!"

What drunks are seeking at the bottom of the bottle is joy but the "lust for joy" cannot be quenched by alcohol. In fact, alcoholism is a joyless existence. For alcohol works to strip you of everyone and everything that is meaningful to you in your life. It is a very harsh master that requires total and absolute obedience from it's servants. So put down the bottle and look all around you, for joy is to be found everywhere: in child's smile, in the warmth of a spring day, in the banquet of all life.

    * Physical Lust - Drug Addiction: Drugs are anything that can be used to "alter" state of body and mind. Make no mistake: tobacco is a drug and smoking is drug addiction, caffeine is a drug and 12 or more cups of coffee a day is drug addiction, prescription medicines and/or herbals are drugs and, when used in excess of recommended dosages, are also drug addictions.

Tobacco, caffeine, and "meds" are drugs that are in far more common use than those that are commonly thought of as drugs (marijuana, cocaine, heroin, ecstasy, etc). When you use any drugs to medicate your body and mind away, you are disrespecting yourself at the very deepest level. When you cannot control your "lust for drugs", it is because you do not really feel "good enough" as you are.

So you reach for your drug of choice to "enhance yourself" as in "I'm no good until I have had my morning coffee, etc". So ask yourself, why am I not "good enough as God made me"… for that is the real problem here. For when you are good enough, there is no need to medicate yourself into being "something more".

    * Physical Lust - Body Control Addiction: There are few in the world who are completely satisfied with the appearance or the functioning of their bodies and minds (this includes models who are perhaps the least satisfied group). Most think of body control addicts as those who have eating disorders and/or engage in self injury. Yet the addiction to cosmetic surgery (face lifts, liposuction, implants, tattoos), fad dieting (pills, injections, stomach stapling), performance enhancers (pep pills, steroids, ginko) and other forms of body control is often just as harmful.

What these all have is common is the "lust for approval" from others. When others approve of us, we can feel less "bad" about ourselves. Yet this begs the real issue which is why do you feel bad about yourself in the first place? For those who feel truly good about themselves inside can allow themselves some flaws. The truth is that people are as comfortable with you only the same degree that you are comfortable with yourself. Approve of yourself and others will too.

Lust Cure Part 2: Channeling Mental Lust is done by using these techniques:

    * Mental Lust - Workaholism: Workaholism is a hard lust to overcome because it is powerfully rewarded. Work hard and you get raises, promotions, bonuses, recognition, and constant daily approval for most of your waking hours. Yet, workaholics are often the least effective workers… because they devote most of their time to work, they have no incentive to be efficient. And they tend to abuse those who do not share their addiction. Worst, because they refuse to honor their body and mind's natural need for rest, they tend to be walking cases of burnout.

Those who "lust after work" are working hardest of all to avoid the problems in their life. Poor health, bad marriages, problem children, spiralling debt… all can be forgotten when "buried in work". The only way they will deal with the problems is when they begin to intrude on the "safe haven" at work. And one day work will end and life will still be waiting for them. So, workaholics, this message is for you: look up from your desk today, right now, before your whole life has passed you by.

    * Mental Lust - Shopaholism: Closely related to workaholism is shopaholism where people put so much attention on shopping that they literally "shop until they drop". The compulsion to acquire and hoard underlies the need for compulsive shopping. Unlike workaholics, shopaholics spend rather than make money so when it runs out either they must stop or resort to crime to continue their obsession.

The "lust after things" is another form of "I am not good enough (things are needed to make me feel good)" and "I have empty places inside me (things are needed to fill up the empty spaces)". To handle feelings of not being good enough, see the "Drug Lust Cure". To handle interior emptiness, see the "Food Lust Cure".

    * Mental Lust - Abuse to Control: "Let two people be alone together and in the space of an hour, one will always emerge as the 'superior'." (Chesterfield) When one assumes the "superior" position, there is always the potential for them to "abuse to control" those in the "inferior" position. Those who do "abuse to control" are almost always themselves the victims of others abusing them earlier in their life.

Instead of channeling their anger over the earlier abuse, they simply pass it on. The only way to cure the "lust to abuse" syndrome is for the "abuser" to fully reconnect with their own memories of the pain they suffered when they were "abused". Until they do, they will just perpetuate their own abusive behaviors.

    * Mental Lust - Stalking: Stalking - putting your time and attention physically, mentally, and emotionally on another person - is the ultimate form of the "lust for self denial". Focusing totally on another person is the surest way not to have to look at the problems in your own life. Stalking is never random: the stalker chooses their "victim" because, at heart, their "victim" has qualities which the stalker would like to have but does not have (such as beauty, power, status, money, etc).

Instead of the stalker spending their time in illegally tracking their "victim", their time would be better spent in deciding what it is about their "victim" that they admire and truly want to have for themselves. Getting "whatever 'it' is" for themselves - instead of wasting time harassing someone else - is what will cure the "lust for stalking" that otherwise keeps them always hunting for what they lack.

Lust Cure Part 3: Channeling Emotional Lust is done using these techniques:

    * Emotional Lust - Extreme Sports: Most who routinely engage in "extreme sports" have a very hard time believing that they too are drug addicts. Physically, they are addicted to the adrenaline rush that comes from the very real risks to their life posed by their "sports". Mentally, they are addicted to the thrill that comes from "living on the edge" of death. Emotionally, they are the most addicted to the need to "feel something". Risk sports generate the same raw intensity of emotion as in found in war. Every moment becomes precious. Senses become ultra heightened.

The pulse of life is felt so thoroughly and vividly as to make every other moment dull by comparison. What "adrenaline" addicts must face is that if they are "bored" in "regular life", it is because they are boring. And if they are boring and unable to feel anything, why is that? The answer to this question is only the cure for extreme sports lust. The truth is that every moment - dull or extraordinary - is alive with possibilities that can be enjoyed without an adrenaline haze. Extreme sporters are usually too "busy" creating and recovering from injuries to notice this.

    * Emotional Lust - Gambling: Closely related to the addiction to extreme sports is the addiction to gambling. Gamblers live on the choppy seas of their own emotions as they gamble their money and often their lives on the next roll of the dice, the next hand of cards, or the next swing of the stock market.

Just look at the "sports pit" and you will see a group of totally focused individuals who are as intense and joyless as the most reckless of day traders. Like the extreme sporter, gamblers are addicted to the physical adrenaline rush of victory-defeat, the mental rush of living dangerously, and the emotional rush that the uncertainty of the final "win-or-lose" outcome brings.

Gamblers often claim to do what they do because it is easy money and the lazy way to "earn" it. The truth is their lust drives gamblers put in longer hours often - for the majority of them - for less payoff than if they worked less at "an honest living". Gamblers, like extreme sporters, need to look inside for the cure to their lust.

    * Emotional Lust - Hackers & Grifters: Hackers - those who create viruses or infiltrate computer systems with the intention of destroying them - and grifters - those who live by playing "confidence games" - are both just gamblers who are playing for higher stakes. Hackers gamble by killing computer systems while grifters gamble by killing their victims financially and often physically at the end of the game.

The gambler's cure would work for them but they are so deep into their own mental rationalizations that they are usually incapable of looking within. For those "burned" by hackers and grifters know this… their own internal torture is greater than any punishment you could inflict on them. For it is their own internal sense of worthlessness that they are seeking to hide by victimizing others.

    * Emotional Lust - Adventure Sex: Those who perhaps feel the most unworthy of all are those who treat their bodies like trash by having adventure sex. Adventure sex is undertaken for the "thrill" of it as in anonymous sex with strangers who are likely to have sexually transmitted diseases, sex in public places where the risk of arrest is real, excessive use of or participation in pornography, and so on.

Underneath the adventure sex is the insatiable need for the "unloved" child to receive the attention - never received from significant others - from sex partners in a very dramatic manner. The only cure for the "adventure sex lust" is love. The adventurer needs to look deep inside and connect with their own worthiness to be loved for those who respect themselves are not able to trash their bodies.

    Quick Spirit Based Holistic Cures

I am going to finish off the "Your Mind's Basic Minimum Requirements".  I am going to move on to Emotions before Spirit so you will notice the cure #'s not in order again.  I post these in hopes that someone can benefit or learn something here as we all live in a stressful world.  Some more than others and it is how we apply ourselves or how we react to different things that effect our outcome.

Cure #11: Before You Take "Hard Medicinal Drugs" with "Side Effects"

The Terrible Truth About the Real Cause of Illness

You are here on Earth to learn lessons. You may have chosen to accept experiences that are harder than you can handle. If so, this usually manifests as a profound state of dis-ease with your life. This feeling of dis-ease, if deep and long standing, manifests as problems and/or illness. These problems and/or illnessses force you to struggle with their solution and to learn the lessons that life has to teach you. (For the cheat sheet on what diseases teach which lessons, consult Louise Hay's book "You Can Heal Your Life").

In America, we have the unfortunate belief that our body and mind are machines just like cars are. Our approach to medicine is mechanical ("Got a problem? Pop a pill…"). Yet bodies and minds are not machines and so they have an amazing ability to get around the most advanced modern technology. If you use "drugs" to solve your problems without having learned your lessons, your body strikes back.

TheTerrible Truth About the Real Cause of Side Effects

Your body strikes back at you through side effects. So you "solve" one problem and your body sends you more. Side effects are not random: they are designed to raise the same issues that you have avoided learning by "medicating" the original problem. Take the case of the five best selling drugs in America today: you know their names: Xenical®, Celebrex®, Allegra®, Viagra®, and Propecia®.

Xenical®: The Modern Way to Win the Battle of the Bulge

Xenical® is Hoffman-La Roche's brand for the fat blocker, Orlistat. "Orlistat blocks fat from being digested by preventing enzymes in the gastrointestinal tract from breaking down dietary fats into smaller molecules that can be absorbed by the body." The most common side effects are "excess gas, fatty/oily stools, fecal urgency/incontinence (an urgency to have them and an inability to control them)."

OLD Problem #1: Obesity: Obesity is caused by: "fear, the need for protection; running away from feelings; insecurity, self rejection; seeking fulfillment." Once fear is artificially removed by drugs, the individual will experience "related" problems (assuming that they have not learned the lesson fat has to teach them).

NEW Problem #1: Bowel Movements: Problems with bowel movements are caused by: "fear of letting go of the old and no longer needed." Notice this is the worst side effect (the "inability to control them").
NEW Problem #2: Gas (Flatulence): Problems with gas are caused by "gripping fear, undigested ideas."

The common thread between the original problem and the side effects is FEAR. The failure to confront and resolve your deepest fears is what keeps the weight on. Getting rid of the weight does not get you out of facing your fears: it only creates other problems that are socially fearful (and that in my view are far less desirable!).

Celebrex®: The Modern Way to Overcome the Grip of Arthritis

Celebrex ® from Searle Pfizer is the "#1 branded arthritis prescription medication. By effectively reducing the pain, inflammation and stiffness of arthritis, Celebrex helps you through the day with activities like standing, walking or climbing stairs and through the night while in bed. The most common side effects of Celebrex are "stomach irritation, nausea, tarry stools, and diarrhea". These side effects hit a person "where they live": in the stomach, the solar plexus, the seat of their identity.

OLD Problem #1: Arthritis: Arthritis is caused by: "feeling unloved; criticism, resentment, inflexibility". Once that feeling of being unloved and rejected is artificially removed by drugs, the individual will experience "related" problems (assuming that they have not learned the lesson arthritis has to teach them).

NEW Problem #1: Nausea: Problems with nausea are caused by: "rejecting an idea or an experience" which is the usual result of people having problems with criticism, resentment, or inflexible thinking.
NEW Problem #2: Diarrhea: Problems with diarrhea are caused by: "rejection, running off" which again is the usual result of people having problems with criticism, resentment, or inflexible thinking.

The common thread between the original problem and the side effects is REJECTION. The failure to confront and resolve feelings of being unloved and rejected by others will continue to "hit you in the gut". Getting rid of the arthritis does not get you out of facing your feelings: it only creates other problems!

Allegra®: The Modern Way to Breathe Easier in "Allergy Season"

Allegra® from Hoechst Marion Roussel is a very popular treatment for "seasonal allergic rhinitis" providing "allergy sufferers with continued feelings of symptom relief throughout the 12-hour dosing period". The most common side effects of Allegra are: "interactions with other antihistamines, cold or flu, and nausea".

OLD Problem #1: Allergies: Allergies are caused by: "guilt, emotional congestion;" being overwhelmed. Once that feeling of being overwhelmed is artificially removed by drugs, the individual will experience "related" problems (assuming that they have not learned the lesson allergies have to teach them).

NEW Problem #1: Colds/Flu: Problems with colds and flu are caused by: "too much going on at once, confusion, disorder" which is the usual result of people who are overwhelmed and need to rest.
NEW Problem #2: Interactions: Problems with drugs interactions are caused by: "too much going on at once, being overwhelmed" which again is the usual result of people who are overwhelmed and need to rest.

The common thread between the original problem and the side effects is BEING OVERWHELMED. The failure to confront and resolve feelings of being overwhelmed only causes your body to make you sick enough to rest. Getting rid of the allergies only serves to "overwhelm" you with other problems.

Viagra®: The Modern Way to Overcome "Erectile Dysfunction"

Viagra® from Pfizer is "is a revolutionary treatment" helping about "70% of men with impotency problems". Many consider Viagra to be a preferable alternative to "painful and embarrassing" traditional treatments such as "suppositories, injections, and penile implants". The most common side effects of Viagra are: "headaches, facial flushing, upset stomach… bluish or blurred vision, or sensitivity to light."

OLD Problem #1: Impotence: Impotence is caused by: "sexual pressure, tension, guilt; self in a male body". Once that feeling of invalidating the self is artificially removed by drugs, the individual will experience "related" problems (assuming that they have not learned the lesson impotence has to teach them).

NEW Problem #1: Headaches: Problems with headaches are caused by: "invalidating the self" which is the usual result of people who are not fundamentally comfortable with themselves - often this stems from conflicts about sexuality.
NEW Problem #2: Blurred Vision: Problems with blurred vision are caused by:
"I trouble: fear of seeing the self" which again is the usual result of people who are not fundamentally comfortable with themselves or their sexual role.

The common thread between the original problem and the side effects is INVALIDATION OF SELF. The failure to confront and resolve feelings of being uncomfortable with yourself will continue to emerge. Getting rid of the impotence (while satisfying) does not get rid of the internal pressure: it increases it.

Propecia®: The Modern Way to Put In What God is Taking Out

Propecia® from Merck is a "treatment of male pattern baldness". The most common side effects of Propecia are: "less desire for sex, difficulty in achieving an erection, and a decrease in the amount of semen."

OLD Problem #1: Hair Loss: Men who cannot accept baldness: one of the natural consequences of masculine aging (pattern baldness) may become faced with other consequences of it (unless they have learned the lessons it had to teach).

NEW Problem #1: Lack of Sex Drive: Lack of sex drive is one of the natural consequences of masculine aging (which really gets a man's attention... Viagra®!)
NEW Problem #2: Reduced Erections/Thin Semen: These are the natural results of a lack of sex drive as well (so Propecia® leads to Viagra®!).

MORAL: By now you can see the pattern: push in a problem one place it pops out in another one. So before you spend a lot time and money on "wonder drugs", consider investing a few dollars in Louise Hay's book. You CAN heal your life without putting your health and your body at risk by taking "hard drugs" with potentially harmful side effects. Try facing your problems: you just may lose them!

Cure #9: Unleash the Power of Aromas: Young Living Essential Oils

Aromatherapy uses your sense of smell to work on your limbic (primitive) brain - the lowest level of your unconscious mind - to restructure it to support the new directions toward health and vitality that you seek from healing. The aromas you use regularly will speed up any other type of healing.

How to Use Aromas and Essential Oils to Get the Best Healing Results:

    * Aromas/oils cannot work if you cannot smell (the smell effects your limbic brain).
    * Aromas/oils are very concentrated: it only takes a 1 to 3 drops for a good result.
    * Put aromas/oils under the nose (not inside it) and over the chakra to be healed.
    * Put a hot damp towel over the chakra to be healed and cover it with a dry towel.

Cautions When Using Aromas and Essential Oils in Healing

    * Never take aromas/oils internally and do not put oils into eyes or orifices.
    * If your skin gets red/irritated, wash thoroughly and stop using the aromas/oils.
    * Keep aromas/oil out of heat/sunlight and store where children cannot get to them.
    * Consult your doctor if you have respiratory problems, are pregnant, on medicine.

*Always use a carrier oil when using essential oils, especially when applying to the skin. (Carrier oil meaning: almond oil, coconut oil, even olive oil from the grocery store).

Whenever this stress response kicks in, your blood rushes into your muscles, adrenaline is pumped into your blood, and your heart rate, respiration rate, and blood pressure increase. You're STRESSED!

Where Does Stress Come From? Humans evolved the stress response to fight off wild animals. Today, stress itself is the "wild animal". Untamed and allowed to run rampant in your life, "bad" stress can kill you. This is not to say that all stress is bad: "good" stress is an essential part of successful living.

"Good Stress" is a balance between excitement and relaxation that can help you concentrate, focus, and achieve what you want. Good stress helps you become centered, clear, and ready for action. Long term, good stress releases your energy and helps you to become more of who you are.

"Bad Stress" is a never ending, constant arousal and anxiety causing your body to react with heart palpitations, continual sweating, stomach acidity, muscle spasms, and high blood pressure. Long term, bad stress can cause irreparable damage to your physical and mental health and well being.

What Causes Stress? Stress is caused both by your "interpretations of" and "responses to" situations going on "outside" and "inside" you. Notice that it is YOUR interpretations and YOUR responses which cause your stress. It is not the situations which cause stress but how you deal or do not deal with them.

"Inside" causes of stress (internal stressors) include such things as:

LifeStyle Choices: too much junk food/caffeine, overloaded schedule, no sleep, no exercise.
High Risk Personality: Type A, perfectionistic, rigid beliefs, workaholic, people pleaser.
Negative Self-Talk: pessimistic thinking, self criticism, over analyzing, beating yourself up.
Mind Traps: unreal expectations, taking it personally, all or nothing thinking, exaggerating.

"Outside" causes of stress (external stressors) include such things as:

Daily Living: traffic, commuting, misplacing keys or important items, mechanical breakdowns.
Environment: too much noise, too much/little light, too warm/cold, confined/cramped space.
Social Interaction: rude, bossy, aggressive, argumentative, inconsiderate, mean people.
Legal/Community: rules, regulations, laws, deadlines, "red tape", "do this, don't do that".
Major Life Events: see "Holmes-Rahe Social Readjustment Ratings Scale".

How Can Your Manage Your Stress? Here are the two simple steps...

1> Identify whatever it is that is causing you stress response to be triggered.
2> Picking/using the stress reduction techniques that work best for you.

Identifying your stress is easy. Just become aware of your body as you respond to different situations that you encounter in your daily life. Then ask yourself, "Does this situation, event, person, place, or thing…"

    • Make my muscles tense?
    • Make my heart pound?
    • Make my hands cold/clammy?
    • Give me a headache?
    • Give me a backache?
    • Give me a knot in the stomach?

Pick the stress reduction techniques that work best for you. If you want to avoid the stress of picking a technique, here are two that are quick and easy:

The EASY technique is just making a concerted effort to avoid whatever it is that is stressing you.
    The
QUICK technique is to smile and laugh - it is hard to be happy and stressed at the same time.

When using stress reduction techniques, remember two things:

Your first goal is to learn how to lessen the impact of stress whenever you feel tense.
    Your
last goal is to learn how to replace the stress response with the relaxation response. (That's it!)

Dealing with "Inside" Causes of Stress

LifeStyle Choices: Good health is 20% heredity and 80% lifestyle choice…

Decrease your caffeine intake (coffee, tea, chocolate, colas) so that you can relax.
Eat a well balanced diet (no junk food), eat slowly, and get plenty of fluids and sleep.
Get on a regular program of exercise (at least 30 minutes, 3 times per week).
Read a book or a magazine, listen to music, watch TV or a video… and relax.

High Risk Personality: It will be hard to change but you can do it, if you try…

Go against your type - let the answering machine get your calls when you are relaxing.
Go against your type - head into a few weekends with no plans whatsoever.
Go against your type - if you are ill, do not try and carry on as if you are not.
Go against your type - know when you are tired and do something about it.

Negative Self-Talk: Looking at things more positively is a skill requiring practice…

Learn to see problems as opportunities and discard negative thoughts.
Take regular "time outs" to get away from things stressing you (from a walk to a vacation).
Each day find some leisure time so that your body and mind time can recharge and relax.

Mind Traps: If you are imprisoned by your mind, here is how to escape…

Each week find time for self renewal-rejuvenation: do something to elevate/feed your spirit.
Accept that you may never have organized closets or drawers, a tidy desk or house, etc.
Regularly do relaxation exercises (meditation, self hypnosis, breathing, smiling, laughing).

Dealing with "Outside" Causes of Stress

Daily Living: Make your day a little easier on yourself…

Have a place for everything and everything in it's place - it saves on "search missions".
Stock a shelf at home with items you would hate to run out of (ie. toilet paper, batteries, etc).
Keep some cards and gifts around in case you forget a birthday or have a last minute party.

Environment: Do what you can to make your world a little more livable…

Too much noise… wear earplugs or ear protectors or ask others to "just keep it down".
    Too much/little light or too warm/cold… wear sunglasses/bring a light or bring a fan/sweater.
Make your home your castle… a safe haven free from the cares and troubles of the world.
Throw out, give away, or sell some of the clutter in your house… stuff equals stress.

Social Interaction: Other people can be the greatest source of your stress...

Get real - don't expect total harmony all the time in relationships (real life involves conflict!!).
Get real - don't expect everyone to like you, to share your opinions, or to adopt your beliefs.
Get real - don't expect to be right all the time, know everything, or be all things to all people.
Get real - don't expect to always have to live up to your own or to other's expectations.
Nurture your support systems: be good to your family, friends, and those who care for you.
Work on your communication skills: be assertive rather than too aggressive or too passive.
Do not allow others to define your day: only you can decide if you will have a good/bad day.
Set limits: learn how to say "No" and to be "OK" with saying "No" when you need to.

Legal/Community: Try to join rather than beat the system...

Leave a few minutes earlier for work so you are not forced to "beat the traffic" or "speed".
Practice good time and money management skills: try writing checks as bills come in.
Practice proven problem solving techniques: go to tax preparers instead of doing it yourself.

Major Life Events: Paying attention to managing your stress is CRITICAL…

Assess your stress by using the "Holmes-Rahe Social Readjustment Ratings Scale".
Do as many of the above stress reduction techniques as you feel comfortable with doing.
Above all, feel no guilt if you are not able to follow a single one of these suggestions!

    Quick Spirit Based Holisitic Cures

    Your Mind's Basic Minimum Requirements

Cure #6: "Getting Back to Basics" Learning to Live Life Holistically

In my experience, today's numerous health problems are largely caused because most people have lost touch with the basics. Worse, most do not know what the basics are. Fortunately, there is a lot of ancient wisdom about the basics of life as relevant today as they were millenia ago. It is relevant because the "hardware" - body, mind, and spirit - has not changed much since these teachings "came out".

The selections below on "the simple way of holistic living" come from the "Hua Hu Ch'ing", the oral teachings of the Chinese master, Lao Tse.

The "teachings are simple: if you try to make a religion or science of them, they will elude you. Profound yet plain, they contain the entire truth of the universe. Those who wish to know the whole truth take joy in doing the work and service that comes to them. Having completed it, they take joy in cleansing and feeding themselves... This unadorned path leads to peace, virtue, and abundance." (1)

Practice "undiscriminating virtue: take care of those who deserve it and equally take care of those who do not... extend your virtue in all directions..." (2)

Learn to "embrace all things... hold no resistance to any idea or thing... rid yourself of the concept of separation: male and female, self and other, life, and death... enter into harmony and oneness." (3)

"Every departure" from these principles "contaminates one's spirit... Over many lifetimes, the burdens of contamination can become great... There is only one way to cleanse oneself from these contaminations... and that is to practice virtue... (4)

...selflessly offering assistance to others, giving... one's time, abilities, and possessions in service, wherever and whenever needed, without prejudice concerning the identity of those in need. If your willingness to give blessings is limited, so also is your ability to receive them." (4)

"Stop striving for admiration... Place your esteem on God... Live in accord with It... Share with others the teachings that lead to It, and you will be immersed in the blessings that flow from It." (9)

"Let your ego go. Let the senses go. Let desires go. Let conflicts go. Let ideas go. Let the fiction of life and death go. Just remain in the center, watching... and then forget that you are there." (10)

"Along the way, avoid thinking of the Oneness of All as unusual, exalted, sublime, transcendent... Because it is the Oneness, it is beyond all that. It is simply the direct, essential, and complete truth." (14)

"To the ordinary being, others often require tolerance. To the highly evolved being, there is no such thing as tolerance because there is no such thing as other... Never hate, never resist, never contest... always just keep learning and being... (15)

Loving and hating, having expectations: all these are attachments. Attachment prevents the growth of one's true being... Be attached to nothing, let your very existence benefit all..." (15) "Those who cultivate themselves for the sake of all: to these, the whole truth of the universe is revealed." (16)

"If you want to worship God, first discover It in your own heart: then your worship will be meaningful." (17)

"There is no one method for attaining realization of God: to regard any method as THE method is to create a duality which can only delay your understanding of the truth." (18) "Within the Great Oneness... all things are seen, all things are understood, all things are forever in their proper place." (20)

"The past cannot be kept, however beautiful. The present cannot be held, however enjoyable. The future cannot be caught, however desirable..." Being "possessed by the ideas of the past or preoccupied with the images of the future" causes you "to overlook the plain truth of the moment." (21)

So "if you are willing to be lived by God, you will see It everywhere, even in the most ordinary things." (22) "Your nature and the integral nature of the universe are one and the same: indescribable, but eternally present... open yourself to this." (24)

"Channel your emotions and life energy toward the light... Without the discipline to practice this, you will tumble constantly backwards into darkness... High of awareness of this subtle truth is gained through virtuous conduct and sustaining disciplines, so also is it maintained" this way. (29)

"The only way to understand God, is to directly experience It... The highest teachings are wordless... My own words are... not the destination but a map to help you reach It..." (30) So "can you be still and look inside? If so, then you will see that the truth is always available, always responsive..." (31)

"Truth is everywhere you turn... if you can let go of it with your mind and surround it with your heart, it will live in you forever." (33)

"...your existence is determined by the energies to which you connect yourself. If you attach yourself to gross energies - liking, hating, rejecting, indulging... - then you will lead a series of heavy, attached lives. This can go on for a very long and tedious time.... So join with higher things... by holding to that which is refined... you can go anywhere without ever leaving the center of the universe." (34)

"The beginning of immortality... is insight... because your spirit follows you through cycle after cycle of life, death, and rebirth, you have the ongoing opportunity of cultivating insight... Refined over time: insight becomes pure, unwavering" (35)

"It is entirely possible for you to achieve immortality and to experience absolute joy and freedom forever... by practicing undiscriminating virtue.... Practicing kindness and selflessness, you naturally align yourself with God." (36)

"Difficulties are the very road to immortality: by meeting them calmly and openly, however they unfold, and by joyfully developing yourself in response... you become as natural and as complete as God Itself." (36)

"Respect the earth as your mother, the heavens as your father, and all living things. Care for them, you care for yourself. Give to them, you give to yourself. At peace with them, you are at peace with yourself." (37) So "remain quiet... Discover the harmony within your own being... Embrace it!" (38)

It is "part of the cosmic law, that what you say and do determines what happens in your life" so "cultivate yourself to act in accord with it, bringing moderation to actions and clarity to living... This is the profound and simple truth: you are the master of your life and death. What you do is what you are..." (40)

"Simply see that you are at the center of the universe... Accept all things as being part of your infinite body. When you perceive that an act done to another is done to yourself... you understand the great truth." (42)

"In ancient times, people lived holistic lives...." (43)

"They did not overemphasize the intellect, but integrated body, mind, and spirit in all things. This allowed them to become masters of knowledge rather than victims of concepts. If a new invention appeared, they looked for the troubles it might cause as well as the shortcuts it offered. They valued old ways that had been proven effective, and they valued new ways if they could be proven effective." (43)

"If you want to stop being confused, then emulate these ancient folk:"
..........Join your body, mind, and spirit in all you do.
..........Choose food, clothing, and shelter that accords with nature.
..........Rely on your own body for transportation.
..........Allow your work and your recreation to be one and the same.
..........Do exercise that develops your whole being and not just your body.
..........Listen to music that bridges your body, mind, and spirit...
..........Serve others and cultivate yourself simultaneously." (43)

"Understand that true growth comes from meeting and solving the problems of life in a way that is harmonizing to yourself and others. If you can follow these simple old ways, you will be renewed." (43)

    Quick Spirit Based Holistic Cures

Here is the last cure so to speak for Your Body's Basic Minimum Requirements.   We will then move on to your Mind.

Cure #7: The "Touch" Vitamin: Reiki Heart Anchor and Heart Hug

The human body was made to flow (receive/give) love unconditionally. Touch is an essential part of flowing love to ourselves and others. When we are babies we instinctively know this truth and demand to be touched by a variety of other people everyday. Touch connects us as babies to life. It is touch that we are really craving from our romantic partners. It is this touch which sustains our bodies in vibrant health.

The 2 essential healing touches are the Reiki Heart Anchor & Heart Hug.

"Reiki Heart Anchor" is a touch you do for and by yourself.
"Reiki Heart Hug" is a touch between two "friendly" people.

How to Do the "Reiki Heart Anchor": This is a 2 step process which takes 10 minutes a day. These 10 minutes a day will change your life for the better and will be the best investment you can ever make in yourself.

When you wake and before sleep, fill yourself with love by doing the following:

1> Place the fingertips of both hands directly over your heart on your chest.
2> Close your eyes and imagine filling yourself with the golden healing light of God.
3> See, hear, feel, taste, smell, and know that God's love is being poured into you.
4> When you are filled with love say: "
I receive love. I give love. I am love".
5> Press all your fingertips to your heart so you can anchor this love inside you.
6> You have now anchored yourself in love.
.............Know that this love is available to you whenever you need it.

Throughout the day, when you need to feel love, all you need to do is.

1> Place your fingers on your heart (women play with a necklace, men with a tie).
2> Press them gently over your heart to connect with your anchored love.
3> Take a few moments to feel the love and then remove your fingers.

How to Do the "Reiki Heart Hug": This takes between 5 and 10 minutes.

Dr. Leo Buscaglia (the "Love" Doctor) believes that everyone needs at least 4 hugs a day to feel human, 8 hugs a day to grow, and 12 hugs a day to be empowered. If you have been "hug deprived" for a long time, that is sound advice.

However, I believe it is the quality of the hugs that you regularly receive that matters, not necessarily the quantity of them. The "Reiki Heart Hug" is one of the highest quality hugs that you can receive and give. It is a must for those in an intimate relationship to "bring back (and keep) that loving feeling".

1> Each person must stand directly opposite from one another, about 3 feet apart.
2> Each person must be in the same position: arms down, feet apart, standing up.
3> Each person smiles and looks with loving kindness into the other person's eyes.
4> Each person says silently and with conviction: "I love you as I love myself".
5> Both people walk slowly toward one another as they smile at one another.
6> When both people are directly in front of one another, they embrace.
7> Both people wrap their arms around one another gently (never tightly).
8> Both people place their hands on the other's back over the heart.
9> Put the palm of your dominant hand on the bottom and the other hand on top.
10> Both hearts should be aligned opposite one another to the extent possible.
11> Both people imagine there is a golden cord of love connecting their hearts.
12> If both people are open, the energy flows between the two hearts immediately.
13> While this healing energy is flowing, each person says silently:
    ........."
I receive love. I give love. I am love".
14> Feel and enjoy it. If you want to speak about what you are feeling, do so.
15> When one feels it is time to stop, they end the hug by saying "I am ready".
16> Then each person releases the other and takes a few steps back.
17> Each person smiles and looks with loving kindness into the other's eyes.
18> Each person says aloud and with deep conviction:
........."Thank you so much. That was wonderful".

    Quick Spirit Based Holistic Cures

#4 for Your Body's Basic Minimum Requirements

Cure #4: Food, Glorious Food: Getting Into the Right Relationship with It

    The "Curse" of Abundance

Throughout must of human history and in most parts of the world today, food was/is scarce. Where food is scarce, the presence of food is blessing. Where it is abundant (like in America), too much of it becomes a curse.

The truth is that the abundant food we have in America is killing us. It has become a very vicious cycle. We overeat and get fat. We are fat so we risk our health, money, and maybe our lives on fad weight loss solutions.

Where the "True" Weight Problem Is

In America, the true problem is with weight control is cultural. Centuries of scarcity and lack have programmed us into building food into every aspect of our lives. Food is the answer to everything. We give it as gifts, we get it at work in meetings, at parties, at the movies, at the ballpark... it's everywhere!

The key is to come to a right relationship with food: getting enough of the right kind to keep us healthy and to keep us from obesity.

GOLDEN RULES FOR GETTING "OUT OF THE FAT LANE"

If you're stuck in the FAT lane, here's how you got there - the "secret" formula that has made too many of us a "wide load":

    Fat = WHAT (40%) + HOW (30%) + WHEN (15%) + WHY (10%) + WHERE (5%) You Eat

For those firmly committed to the spiritual path, there is another metaphysical aspect that also must be addressed. You will also need to do the exercise on "Removing 'Meta-Physical' Causes of Unwanted Fat". (http://www.healpastlives.com/future/exercise/exweight.htm)

If you are wondering if you are overweight, click here for the official chart! (http://www.healpastlives.com/future/cure/weightch.htm)

1> WHAT YOU EAT: CUT THE FAT, INCREASE WATER & OXYGEN

The WHAT Problem: The WHAT problem is what everyone focuses on. Simply put, if you consume more fuel (food, drink) than the energy you are expending (by metabolizing, living, or exercising), then you will get fat: end of story. There are 10 million different solutions to the WHAT problem, here is mine.

The WHAT Solution: Here is WHAT to do to get into the right relationship with food and nutrition:

    * Eat food in balanced proportions: 40% Carbohydrates, 30% Fat, 30% Protein.

    * Eat foods as close to natural as possible: vegetables, grains, and fruits are best.

    * Do 100 Connected Breaths (refer back to cure #1) every morning to literally blow the fat off your body.

    * Drink as much water as you can. (refer to cure # 3) Drink 8 eight ounce glasses of water a day. ..........Work yourself up to drinking an ounce of water for every 2 pounds of weight: you'll never be hungry of fat again.

    * Walking 30 minutes a day at a "good pace" is the best exercise you can do.
.......... To find a "good pace", you are walking TOO slow if you can sing BUT
.......... you're walking TOO fast if you can't talk.

    * Do the necessary mental conditioning. Visualize yourself at your ideal weight.
.......... Declare your intention to be in the right relationship with food.
.......... Speak aloud positive, uplifting affirmations about being slender.

    * Eliminate blocks to weight control: do the "meta-physical weight loss program". (http://www.healpastlives.com/future/exercise/exweight.htm)

    · "Cheating" is essential to success: every so often, indulge in your favorites
.......... or you'll fall off the wagon (life without chocolate is not worth living).

2> HOW YOU EAT: DON'T BE A "SPEED EATING ROBOT"

The HOW Problem: It takes twenty minutes to get the signal from your stomach to your brain that you're full. If you are a "speed eater", at ten minutes or maybe even five, you probably have eaten enough to satisfy your hunger.

Since you don't know you're full until ten or fifteen minutes later, you keep on eating and eating and eating. If you always "feel stuffed" after a meal, then you are probably routinely eating more than you need to. Just do the math: maybe you are eating twice the amount that would have satisfied you.

The HOW Solution: If only you ate more slowly, you would be better able to tell when you are truly full. So unlearn everything you know about how to eat food, because this is how to do it:

    * Eat slowly: take breaks after a few forkfuls to breathe, savor, and talk.
.......... Let your food settle. When you eat slower, enjoyment per bite/swallow will last longer, be more satisfying, and feels like you're eating more.

    * Chew your food slowly and thoroughly (between 20 & 30 times).
.......... Smell and taste each bite. Chewing satisfies your appetite, improves your digestion, and discourages your body from storing fat.

    * Make sure that your entire meal lasts at least 20 minutes.
.......... Give your brain the time it needs to realize that you are feeding your body (your body needs to "feel" you eating). When you start to feel full, stop.

    * Downsize it: instead of upsizing your meal, take the smaller portion.
.......... Don't clean your plate: pack up leftovers. If you can get full on less than what you're eating now, you will lose weight.

3> WHEN YOU EAT: TIMING IS EVERYTHING IN LIFE

The WHEN Problem: The problem is that in modern society with our busy schedules we tend to eat the most when we need it the least. We need it the most when we are "breaking the fast" imposed by our need to sleep a full 8 to 10 hours.

Most of us get up and get out and don't have time for breakfast. Of course, we lose that time later on by feeling saggy and draggy because we are running our body the car on an empty gas tank.

When we "have time" to refill it - at night - we are not doing enough to burn off the food because we are too tired from running on empty all day. So the night time food goes to our hips and our butt and so on. And it starts again.

The WHEN Solution: If only you started matching the time you eat to the time you need the energy from food, you would feel better, have more energy, burn up more calories, and lose more. So unlearn everything you know about how to eat food, because this is when to eat it:

    * Eat the MOST EARLIEST in the day and taper off:
.......... Eat breakfast and a mid morning snack like a lioness, eat lunch and a mid afternoon snack like a lamb, eat dinner like a bird.
.......... If you do nothing else, just "time shifting" the eating earlier in the day will cause you to lose weight.

    * During the day, no more than 5 HOURS without eating or getting water:
.......... Graze (small amounts often), don't stuff (large amounts once or twice)!

    * Absolutely no eating TWO HOURS before bedtime,
.......... FIVE HOURS if you had a big meal.
.......... No eating when you should be SLEEPING: from bed through wake time.

4> WHY YOU EAT: BECAUSE YOU ARE HUNGRY

The WHY Problem: If everyone ate only when they were hungry, there would be a lot less "overweight" people. It is amazing when you think about it, how little eating in America is associated with hunger.

Food is out there - everywhere! Eating is "programmed" into to almost every social activity. Your fat cells don't give you a break at Thanksgiving. They don't care that it's Christmas. They work overtime at weddings, showers, parties, cruises - you name it! - soaking up that fat because - who knows? - the world might end tomorrow and you'll starve. And the beat goes on. In good times and bad, food is usually the answer.

The WHY Problem: When we are children, our bodies naturally know how much we need to eat and they stop us when they have received enough calories. When we grow up, food gets pushed on us by everyone from everywhere.
.......... Here's a concept: only eat when you are hungry.

    * No eating when you're not hungry!
.......... Decide to put your body back in the driver's seat!
.......... When you allow yourself to eat for one reason and one reason only - because you are hungry - you will lose weight.

    * Choose not to eat: just say "No" to food pushers.
.......... Just because others are eating, doesn't mean you have to. If you want to show love to loved ones, find another way than eating to make them feel good.
.......... Ask yourself: "am I feeding my body or my emotions?" If you are eating to soothe your emotions, then it's time to find another way. Food is not the way to happiness: too much food is the way to fat.

5> WHERE YOU EAT: ONLY IN THE DESIGNATED FOOD AREA

The WHERE Problem: Sex might improve when you do it all over the house but eating does not. Eating through the house only adds weight.

As in: passing by the fridge, it magically opens and you eat; candy in the dish or fruit from the bowl magically disappears; and there are crumbs everywhere from secret snacking.

The WHERE Solution: If you body associates everywhere you go with food, it will want to eat everywhere you go. You must reduce the "sense memory" which triggers the desire to eat by only eating in "food areas".

    * To get a handle on what you're eating, you need to dish it out first.
.......... Put what you are eating on a plate, sit, and eat it only in a dining area.
.......... The catch is that you can only eat what you dished out.

    * ONLY eat where you can pay COMPLETE attention to your food.
.......... Not noticing what you eat and not savoring what you eat do causes you not to enjoy what you eat which in turn makes you more hungry.

    * No eating out of the box - boxes contain several portions
.......... - so only eat one at a time - and use a dish!

    Quick Spirit Based Holistic Cures

We are on #3 of the "Your Body's Basic Minimum Requirements".

Cure #3: Water, Water Everywhere: Just Drink It, It Will Cure You

    You've Gotta Have It!!!

Your body is 75% water. Drain all the water from your system and you will be reduced to a few pounds worth of chemicals that are worth about $5 (an origin of the phrase "life is cheap")!

Above all else, your body CRAVES water (just do the math!). Water is the ultimate addiction: ya gotta have it or you die. The one thing that "inner guidance" ALWAYS advises after a healing session is to immediately drink plenty of WATER!!!

GOLDEN RULES FOR AVOIDING YOUR "BEVERAGE PROBLEM"

"You are not sick, you are thirsty! So don't treat thirst with medications!" Get the water you need - NOW! If you don't do this, remember that when the body does not get the water it needs, it becomes a "drought manager". It will take water from "less essential" systems and transfer it to "more essential" systems.

Can you really think of a part of your body that is not fully essential? I can't - if you can, Email me, I'll straighten you out.

THIS IS YOUR BRAIN ON WATER - ANY QUESTIONS?

"Brain tissue is said to consist of 85% water." Your brain - unlike many other parts of your body - runs 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Your brain is "1/50th of your total body weight but it receives 18 to 20% of the blood circulation." The "brain function takes absolute priority over all other systems." Since "every function of the body is monitored and pegged to the efficient flow of water", it does not take a rocket scientist to realize that your brain needs water MOST of all.

In fact, once you "do more water" one of the first things you notice (besides going to the bathroom more) is the increased mental clarity that running more water through your system automatically gives you. Feel smarter already? You should!

WATER IS THE MOST EFFECTIVE NATURAL MEDICINE

Water is the most basic and effective natural medicine there is because essential for cleaning toxins from your body. When you don't get enough water, your body thinks you're starving. When your body thinks your starving, it makes "bad" decisions - compromising vital systems - to get the water it MUST have.

When you do any kind of healing or undergo any kind of stress, change, or growth, you are producing chemical changes in your body. To process these changes easily and effectively - which 99.9% of the time involve cleaning toxic residue OUT of the body - water is VITAL and ESSENTIAL to the process.

GET YOUR MINIMUM DAILY REQUIREMENT OF WATER

Most doctors recommend everyone drink eight eight ounce glasses of water a day. By drinking water, you're giving your body what it needs the most. If you have swollen feet or hands, you need water NOW! Your body's storing excess water there because it's starved for it!

If you have heartburn, arthritis, back pain, angina, migraines, colitis, asthma, high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, depression, loss of libido, chronic fatigue syndrome, lupus, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, or excess weight, these are your body's many cries for water!  Click here to see why!
    .....
Your body is starving for water! Get up and drink some NOW!!!(http://www.healpastlives.com/future/cure/watrcure.htm)

SATISFY YOUR THIRST ALL TIMES... WHEN BEST TO DRINK

"The best times to drink water are: one eight ounce glass one half hour before taking food - breakfast, lunch, and dinner - and a similar amount two and one half hours after each meal This is the very minimum amount of water your body needs."

For better results, you should have "two more glasses of water around the heaviest meal or before going to bed." What works best for me is to continuously drink water through the day. The point is to get that water in you anyway that you can.

WHERE TO GET THE DAILY WATER YOU NEED

In my opinion, most water on tap is "contaminated or containing impurities not safe to drink." When using tap water I believe you MUST install a "small carbon or ceramic filtration unit on your water faucet." I like premium bottled water because it is "sterilized by the addition of ozone at the time of bottling" and "if used in time, bottled water can serve as an alternative" to distilled tap water.

JUST BECAUSE IT IS FLUID DOES NOT MEAN IT IS WATER

Just because you are drinking "plenty of fluids", it does not mean that you are getting enough water. "Tea, coffee, alcohol, and manufactured beverages (juices and regular or diet sodas) contain water but what else they contain are dehydrating agents. Dehydrating agents eventually cause loss of some bodily functions. Severe and lasting dehydration have been translated as indicators of unknown diseases." So just because it is wet does not make it water. Water: accept NO substitutes!!!

DEPRIVE YOUR BODY & DEHYDRATION WILL CAUSE DISEASE

If you own a car, you know that if you fail to give the engine the fresh oil it needs on a regular basis, you engine will be damaged and eventually break down. Water is the oil that your body needs on a daily basis in the correct amounts to function properly. Unlike your car, your body will undertake a program of creative water management to redistribute this essential nutrient to where it is needed most.

The real problem with such "creativity" is that it keeps you from realizing what your true health problem is: lack of water. If you want to see the critical damage water deprivation can do, consult the list of dehydration related diseases.(same link as above)
    .....
If this does not open your eyes, nothing else will.

"DRY MOUTH" IS THE VERY LAST SIGN OF DEHYDRATION

Most people think if they do not have "dry mouth" than they are getting enough water. The truth is that, due to the fact that eating is such high priority for the body, "saliva is produced even if the rest of the body is comparatively dehydrated. Dry mouth is the very LAST sign of dehydration." The bottom line is that "water is too important to the body to only signal its shortage by experiencing a dry mouth."

"DRY MOUTH" IS NOT A SIGN OF THIRST, PAINS ARE!

The "label of disease" is routinely applied when the medical community has "not understood that pain and local damage can be one of the ways that persistent drought in the body shows itself." After chronic, long standing water deprivation, when the "dehydration has become symptom-producing, the reversal of its complications takes time and understanding." Until doctors realize that "people were suffering from a 'thirst problem'", they cannot cure the problem because they have not found it's source. Click here for more.

IT IS NEVER TOO LATE FOR WATER TO HELP CURE YOU

"At each phase of our life, our body is the product of a time-operated series of chemical interactions. The cells of the body are like sponges; it takes some time before they become better hydrated. If your kidneys are not damaged as a result of the long standing and expanding dehydration that the loss of thirst sensation will automatically force on the body, then you can feel safe and drink" more water.

Remember that correcting any long standing problem is like turning a ship in the ocean - it does not turn on a dime. It took time for the problem to be created and it will take time for the problem to be cured.

NO "OVERDOSE" OR "FATAL INTERACTION" IS POSSIBLE

If you drink too much water, you pee. If you take the wrong kind of drugs, in the wrong combination, in the wrong dose, you die. Before you turn up your nose at a water cure, read these gruesome statistics.

"Drug companies produce so many chemicals that are proven to make 2,000,000 sicker and have killed over 100,000 annually - even when used according to their manufacturers' recommendations! One in every 4 hospital admissions are due to the side effects of routinely used prescription drugs One in 15 hospital patients in the United States can expect to suffer from a prescription or over-the-counter medicine, and about 5 percent of these will die as a result!" Any questions?

"YOU ARE NOT SICK, YOU ARE THIRSTY": TRY IT!

I "invite you to take charge of your own health and well being by learning about the direct relationship of chronic dehydration to pain production and disease. Begin here and now" by making the commitment to drink eight eight ounce glasses a day every day for the next 60 days without fail.

You will feel better, think better, have more energy, lose weight, and honor your body all for pennies a day. All you have to lose are your chronic health problems. It's up to you: the life that you save will be your own.

For the quickest and safest results with the "water cure", drink 1/2 your body weight of water in ounces daily AND be sure to use 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt(http://www.healpastlives.com/future/cure/watrcure.htm#SeaSalt) for every quart of water you drink so that your body can regulate the increased intake of water properly.

    Quick Spirit Based Holistic Cures

Ok , Here is cure #2 for your Body's Basic Minimum Requirements.

Cure #2: The Golden Rules of Effective, Power Sleep:

While I Was Sleeping, Life Was Going On

Of all the health problems I have conquered in my life, my sleep problem was the most difficult to overcome. I was so impaired by sleeping problems that - if my life had been a movie - it would have been "While You Were Sleeping".

The "quality of your life is the quality of your sleep". Of all health problems, inability to get "quality" sleep is among the most widespread and under-reported.

The number of Americans hospitalized for sleep apnea has nearly tripled in five years. Hospital treatment for the disorder in 1998 costed more than $2.7 billion annually, up from $60 million in 1993 (data from HCIA-Sachs).

HOW TO KNOW IF YOU HAVE A SLEEP PROBLEM: If you answer "YES" to four or more of the following seven questions about your sleep habits, then you are not getting quality sleep and I BEG you to seek professional help:

1> Do you wake up after a night's sleep feeling exhausted or needing more sleep?
2> Do you spend awake time thinking about how to/when next you will get sleep?
3> Do you have to have an alarm to wake you up or else you will oversleep?
4> Do you have to "sleep in" on the weekends/free time off just to feel normal?
5> Do you fall asleep at parties or other social outings when you do not want to?
6> Do you often feel groggy to the extent that you must nap during the day?
7> Do you conceal your sleep habits or sleep when you want to be with others?

GOLDEN RULES OF GETTING REFRESHING, QUALITY SLEEP - These are the rules of nature when it comes to sleep. Obey them to your profit and violate them at your own risk. Consider yourself warned.

GET ADEQUATE, CONTINUOUS BLOCK OF SLEEP EVERY NIGHT

The best thing you can do for yourself is to get an ENOUGH sleep every night (at least 8 eight hours, preferably 10 hours) in a continuous BLOCK. Getting 6 hours of hours in one solid block is TWICE as good as getting 8 hours of sleep in 4 blocks of 2 hours. It is inside this continuous block that you sleep deeply (NREM sleep). NREM sleep is where you dream, where you process the events of the day, and where you make the closest daily contact with the healing and regulating currents of the God worlds that keep you sane and healthy.

BE CONSISTENT AS TO WHEN YOU GO TO SLEEP AND WAKE UP

I used to love staying up late on weekends… but I grew to love how much better I felt by going to bed and getting up at the same time. Your body is on an internal clock ("circadian rhythm") which is what helps you to know when to eat, when to sleep, when peak energy is needed, and so on. If you are at all sensitive to time shifts (like jet lag between time zones, switching to Daylight Savings Time, etc), then doing this is a must. Consistency also helps you with getting that adequate, continuous block of sleep you need every night.

SLEEP IS A BANK: AFTER A WITHDRAWAL, MAKE A DEPOSIT

There is such a thing as "catching up" on your sleep. If circumstances require you to stay up past your normal bed-time or to get up before your normal wake-time, then you need to make up the "lost" sleep as soon as possible. Think of it this way: for every hour you are awake, you owe a debt of sleep. Sleep is like a credit card: when it is maxed out, you have no choice but to make the minimum payments. The best way to reduce your sleep debt is to pay it off as you go instead of running a balance! Running a balance means that you will go for long periods without proper sleep and are - in essence - sleep deprived! Sleep deprivation causes illness!

NO FOOD 2 HRS BEFORE BED: BIG MEALS 5 HRS BEFORE BED

The quickest way to gain weight is to eat too late in the day. Late eating means that you do not get a chance to burn off any calories before the food is turned to fat. Late eating means more fat gets stored in your body because sleep releases insulin into your system and insulin stores fat. Worse, proper digestion is meant to be performed while awake. Digestion while sleeping screws up both the sleep and the digestion. Sleep gets screwed up because the digestion keeps you from sleeping continuously which keeps you from sleeping deeply which keeps you from getting the refreshment you need from sleep. Any questions?

NO CAFFEINATED OR ALCOHOLIC DRINKS 8 HRS BEFORE BED

Most people know that caffeine tells their body to "stay awake" and obviously is not helpful when they are trying to tell their body to go to sleep. What most do not know is that it takes time for caffeine to work it's way out of the body, particularly as one gets older. Until caffeine is out of the body, it will disrupt a person's sleep. On the other hand, most believe that alcohol helps a person go to sleep because it relaxes them. The truth is that the impairment alcohol brings one while awake follows the person into sleep. Like caffeine, alcohol disrupts and reduces the refreshing (NREM) sleep. So you when you are wasted, you waste sleep too.

IF NOT FALL ASLEEP WITHIN 1 HOUR, DO A TIRING ACTIVITY

I have learned that if I do not fall asleep within an hour of going to bed, it's not happening. So I get up and do something that I know will tire me out. Usually that is cleaning my house or some other physical activity that involves a lot of moving around. When I feel finally feel exhausted, I drop whatever it is that I am doing and I go to bed immediately. The key is to act on the signal of tiredness.

IF "NAGGING WORRY" KEEPS YOU UP, THEN DEAL WITH IT

If you are very worried about something, then it becomes extremely difficult to fall asleep. The best way to deal with a "nagging worry" is robbing you of sleep is to do something about it. If it means you need to get up and write a check, do it. If that means you have to have some companionship, log onto the Internet: someone in some time zone is sure to be awake and ready to talk. Do whatever it takes.

WHEN NASAL PASSAGES ARE BLOCKED, GET THEM OPEN

You cannot get a good night's sleep if you cannot breathe. One of the commonest causes of sleep disruptions is sleep apnea. Sleep apnea means that somehow your breathing is disrupted as you are sleeping. When you breathing is disrupted, you wake up just enough to take in sufficient air to keep you from suffocating. Then you fall back asleep without ever realizing that you were awake. If your breathing is disrupted in anyway, there is help available. Help ranges from inexpensive nasal dialator strips to very expensive machines (C-PAP and Bi-PAP) that make sure you get a continuous flow of air as you sleep.

KEEP YOUR BEDROOM DARK, SAFE, AND "NOISE FREE"

It is hard to sleep with the lights on, in an unsafe room, where it is noisy - that's just common sense. If you are having sleep problems, the last thing you need is a sleep area that is a problem itself. So do yourself a favor: no nightlights, get curtains that block the sun, put locks on the doors, wear earplugs (the travel plugs for use on airplanes are the best, especially if you have great hearing), and QUIET please.

NAP FOR NO MORE THAN 20 MINUTES AT A TIME

Naps are a double edged sword. Naps are GOOD to help snap you out of that groggy, sleep deprived feeling. Naps are BAD when too many of them during the day cause you trouble with sleeping at night. Unless my body "requests" it, I try not to take naps. When I do take naps, I set the alarm to wake me up in 20 minutes. A 20 minute nap is enough time to refresh you. Go longer and your muscles relax too much (as if for "real" sleep) and you wake up groggy.

USE YOUR BED ONLY FOR SLEEPING OR MAKING LOVE

When you are in bed, do only activities that will put you to sleep. Ironically, making love will relax you so deeply that it will help you to get a good, refreshing sleep (especially if you are a man - I was one many times so I speak with authority). Your body is accustomed to working by "sense memory": associating certain things with certain activities. Make sure that your body only associates your bed with sleep and not watching TV or doing a million other things.

TAKE NATURAL SLEEPING AIDS ONLY WHEN NECESSARY

Sometimes no matter how "good" you have been about following the rules of sleeping, there are times that you just need some "external" help. Especially as you grow older, your body naturally produces less melatonin which is a natural sleep inducer. I will never take "hard drug type sleeping pills". When I need help, I take only natural herbal melatonin. Even then, I only take it when it is absolutely necessary. For me, under normal conditions, that is no more than once a month.

    Quick Spirit Based Holisitc Cures

    Good Morning,

As you can see I do get off topic sometimes with my posts as i do have so many interests.  So I am getting back to what i originally started with and that is some good info.
Each day I am going to post 1 or 2 bits of info on what you see as the title above, starting with Your Body's Basic Minimum Requirements.  These may not necessarily be in order but will be posted by a topic.  In a previous post i have already posted #5 so I will not post it again.  Please go back in my posts to find it and read it as it is very informative.
So on that note I will begin by posting #1 on this topic.

    Your Body's Basic Minimum Requirements

Cure #1: Simple but Effective Breaths for Increased Energy & Vitality

Breath is the Magic Wonder Pill

Air is the most important nourishment that you can receive. Three minutes without it and you will die. Whenever you breathe, remember you are breathing in lifeforce. Be sure to breathe deeply: 90% of the blood flow in your lungs is at the bottom and breathing oxygenates your blood.

Breath is the "WonderPill" which can transform your life. Just look at all breath helps you do: "lose unwanted weight, get refreshing sleep, improve your digestion, lower your blood pressure, enhance your immune system, improve your mood, increase your mental clarity, eliminate addictions like smoking or drinking, look and feel more youthful-vibrant, increase your life span, and give you more energy".

Below are the steps for doing the six most popular breaths... but before using any of the breaths below, click here for a "Word of Caution"

1> CONNECTED BREATH - the "WonderPill Breath" for ALL Ills

Fill the diaphragm on the inhale, allowing your belly to expand (be proud of it!)
Exhale while softly drawing the abdomen back toward the spine.
Do 100 full, connected breaths each and every morning.
..........be sure to be relaxed and pause as you need to.
Don't be concerned if you don't reach 100 right away.
..........Your body will adapt in time.
Connect as many breaths as is comfortable for you and stop at that point.
.........If you get tired or dizzy before reaching 100 breaths, STOP.
Breathe through the mouth for the first 30 days, then use the nostrils.

2> KUNDALINI BREATH - for Increased Physical Energy

Stand with feet placed shoulder width apart and knees bent.
Raise both arms above your head as you inhale through the mouth.
Then quickly exhale through the mouth, bringing the arms down to shoulder height.
Inhale immediately as you raise the arms.
Repeat for 3 minutes at a moderate pace to begin.
Increase the length of time and the intensity as you progress.

3> HA BREATH - for Improved Digestion and Joyful Energy

Stand with feet placed shoulder width apart and knees bent.
Place your hand on your lower abdomen so that you will feel your belly move.
Inhale through the mouth expanding the diaphragm.
Exhale quickly through the mouth making the sound: "HA".
    Repeat rapidly for 2 minutes.

4> BALANCING BREATH - for Centering Yourself

If right handed, place the thumb of the right hand over the right nostril.
Breathe into the left nostril to the count of 8 and hold the breath to the count of 16.
Cover the left nostril with the index finger of the right hand.
Exhale through the right nostril to a count of 8 and hold the breath for a count of 8.
Again cover the right nostril with the thumb and repeat the cycle ten times.

5> HONG SAH BREATH - for Calming the Mind

Inhale through the nose to the count of ten.
While inhaling, mentally repeating the word, "Hong" as you inhale.
Hold the breath to the count of 10.
Then exhale slowly through the mouth as you repeat the word, "Sah" out loud.

6> OLA BREATH - for Quickly Reducing Stored Stress

Tighten the buttocks and rectal muscles.
Pull the stomach in as the inhale is drawn into the upper chest.
Drop the head onto the chest and tighten the entire body while holding the breath.
Raise the head, exhale while moving the head forward and making a hissing sound.

    June 11

Good Morning, I believe it is still morning.......

Well i have a few moments to chat before i head off to get my son from pre- school.  He is back to can't wait to go whereas before lets say a week or two ago he all of a sudden turned into a clingy boy which he was not before.  Didn't want me to leave not even to pay for gas.  I was going crazy lol.  The only thing that makes sense through (ok i just felt a rumble under my feet and a big boom hmm hope it is nothing serious......) anyway the only thing that makes sense through this whole clingy phase he seems to be going through is the fact that he starts school this fall and where he has no concept of time of when "fall" is, i am thinking that he is thinking it is any day now.  I have tried to find out if it may be anything else as we are moving but he is very excited about the move because dad is moving up and in with us and his step brother whom  he seems to love  and miss very much although there is a huge age difference, somewhere along the line he has made an impression on my son.  So when i try to talk to my son he just keeps saying that he wants to be with me and that is all it is.  Cause he knows mom is always coming back and mom will always be there for him so it is not that, he just wants to be with mom.   So i hope that before school starts he will be over this phase but i am not counting on it haha, I think it is going to take for him to start going to school to see that all the other kids are doing it too and to see the friends that he will make etc..... before the cling on will break free  .
I am moving at the end of June so forgive me if you dont see me visiting around that time as i will be really busy.  But once things settle a bit or just so darn tired i need the break of unpacking and boxes (lord do i ever despise packing and moving) i will be stopping in to say hi.
I really want to get settled in quick as I really want to work on building my clientelle for healing touch as i so love doing this work.  I find the sense of peacefullness and serenity i get when doing it brings me back to that harmony and balance i so strive for each day.  Despite my crazy family lol.  But i love them dearly they just upset my balance but hey what are kids for and i of course include my big kid who can be as bad as my little kids lol.  Men they can be the biggest babies lol.  No offence to you men out there either.  I love my man but he has moments haha.  So with 3 younger children the balance i strive for can be real hard work lol.  3 very different ages all going through their own stages, oh my god will i make it lol.

So my work is very important to me and building my business is at the top of my list for this summer and upcoming fall so this way i wont' have to babysit to bring in an extra income and i babysit so i can be there for my kids and saves in babysitting fees.  So wish me luck and success cause i sure am going to try!

Well it is just about that time i must go and get my baby   as he is doing something for fathers day today at preschool and will be excited to tell me about it.
Will chat again soon so make sure to bring that coffee or tea to sip on while we sit and contemplate on our lives.

Peace, Love & Light to you all.

    Gypsy Lore

    Origins Of The Roma/Rom History

Gipsy Encampment - facsimile of a copper-plate by Callot.

Gipsy Encampment - facsimile of a copper-plate by Callot.

    History of the Roma

    D

iverse, nomadic…to be Roma, or “gypsy,” is to be a member of an ethnic minority that is difficult to define. Throughout their history,

the Roma have been comprised of many different groups of people, absorbing outsiders and other cultures while migrating across continents.

This has resulted in creating a patchwork of groups calling themselves Roma, each with differing cultures, customs, and written languages.

Despite their differences, the Roma do share certain attributes. Made up of four “tribes,” or nations (natsiya), they are bound together at

least through Rom blood and Romani (or Romanes), the root language they share. The Roma also hold common characteristics: they are extremely loyal to family and clan; a strong belief in both Del (God) and Beng (the Devil); belief in predestiny; and Romaniya, loosely translated as certain standards and norms in codes of conduct (which vary in degree from tribe to tribe). At their core, because of their history, they are a people who are adaptable to changing conditions.

No one knows where the Roma originated. Because they arrived in Europe from the East, they were thought by early Europeans to be from Turkey or Nubia or any one of vaguely acknowledged non- European places. They were even thought to have been from Egypt, and were called, among other things, Egyptians, or ‘Gyptians, which is how the word “Gypsy” originated.

In the second half of the 18th century, European scholars studying the Roma found that the Romani language shared basic words, including numbers, action, family relationships, etc. with the Eastern Indian languages.

Indeed, its roots appear to be based on Sanskrit, the historical language of the Hindus of India. While Romani has many dialects, it is a spoken-only language. There are, still, many common words used by each dialect. Thus, based on language alone the Roma are divided into three subgroups: the Domari of the Middle East and Eastern Europe (the Dom), the Lomarvren of Central Europe (the Lom), and the Romani of Western Europe (the Rom). Among themselves the Roma speak their own language; otherwise they speak the language of the country they currently occupy.

Today there are approximately more than twelve million Roma living across the world. It’s difficult to put a final tally on their numbers, as many Roma lie about their heritage due to economic, social and  political reasons.

    Rom History In the US

The Rom arrived in the United States and Canada from Serbia, Russia and Austria-Hungary beginning in the 1880s, as part of the larger wave of immigration from southern and eastern Europe in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Primary immigration ended, for the most part, in 1914, with the beginning of the First World War and subsequent tightening of immigration restrictions. Many in this group specialized in coppersmith work, mainly the repair and refining of industrial equipment used in bakeries, laundries, confectioneries and other businesses. The Rom, too, developed the fortune-telling business in urban areas.

Virtually all the anthropological and sociological work on North American Gypsies concerns the Rom, an emphasis which has led a British observer to label the North American academic tradition "Kalderashocentric," Kalderash being one of the Rom subgroups. The first work covered in this bibliography to concern the Rom appeared in 1903. Material appeared sporadically after that, and steadily from 1928 onward. This group is also referred to in the literature as Nomads, Coppersmiths, Nomad Coppersmiths, Vlach (or Vlax) Gypsies, or by reference to a country from which they immigrated to North America, as Brazilian Gypsies, Bulgarian Gypsies, and so forth. The individual subgroup terms Kalderash and Machwaya are also used. While in the Kalderash dialect of the Romani language, Rom is both singular and plural, the Machwaya dialect has plural Roma, which is also found in the literature. The inflected language of the Rom belongs to the "Vlach" branch of the Romani language family. Native speakers refer to "speaking Romanes" (adverb) "in the Gypsy fashion."

A group of Rom who began immigrating to the United States and Canada from eastern Europe in the 1970s is represented primarily in the police literature, where they are referred to as Yugoslavian Gypsies.

    Gypsy Fortune Telling (Dukkerin')

    N

o matter their original origins, Gypsies, or Romas, are prized for their remarkable psychic abilities and the gift to attract good fortune or upset a life with a curse. All are born with such gifts, but what makes their powers so innate is their relationship with nature. Their bond with the spirits of the outdoors allow their gifts to evolve naturally.

Gypsies believe that within their own there are certain ones who posses great power through the ability to perform magic with their special range of knowledge. Such people known in the Gaje, or white man’s world, are usually called witches, warlocks or wizards but within the Roma society they are known as chovihanis

Among the chovihani there are four favorites for fortune telling (or dukkerin`): palm reading, tea leaves, the crystal, and cards. These methods are of a “Practical” nature and do not take anything complex or expensive to utilize.

Surprisingly, the Roma usually do not consult a chovihani or anyone else for past, present or future knowledge. Nor are the chovihanis held in high esteem because of their gifts; rather it is the money brought in by their gifts that gives them a place of honor within the society.

Palm Reading:  Uses the lines, mounts, divisions, and types of hand to tell of a persons past, present, and future.

Tea Leaves:  The use of Chinese tea or any large-leafed variety with a round cup, white or very pale, with a handle.  After the tea is almost entirely drunk, the tea is swirled around three times in the cup with the left hand.  The remaining liquid is then poured out and the leaves are read.

The Crystal:  Utilizes a crystal ball (or any reflective surface), a black cloth (to put the ball upon) a comfortable chair and a table.  The trick here is to "gaze" into the ball and not stare.  Symbolic images appear and are interpreted.

The Cards:  A deck of tarot cards and/or ordinary playing cards are used to gain insight of a person's actions and how they relate to the present and future circumstances.

    Gypsies During The Holocaust

Like Jews, the Rom Gypsies were chosen for total annihilation just because of their race. Even though Jews are defined by religion, Hitler saw the gypsies as a race that he believed needed to be completely annihilated. The Nazis believed that both the Jews and Gypsies were racially inferior and degenerate and therefore worthless.

On December 16, 1942, Heinrich Himmler had a "Final Solution" to the gypsy problem and issued an order to send all gypsies to the concentration camps, such as Dachau, Mauthausen, Ravensbruck and Sachsenhausenexcept to perish and become human guinea pigs. But the chosen gypsies, these "lucky" ones from Germany and Nazi-controlled Europe were sent to Auschwitz/Birkenau, where a special Gypsy Family Camp was erected.

At the hands of the so-called "doctors" at Auschwitz/Birkenau they would torture Gypsy children and adults by putting them into pressure chambers, tested with drugs, castrated, frozen to death, and exposed to various other traumas. Some gypsy adults of child-bearing years were lured into voluntary sterilization on the false pretense that to do this would allow them to go free. The female volunteers were injected with chemical substances producing horrible pain, inflamed ovaries and bleeding. If the subject lived through all of that, the damaged ovaries were then removed, without anesthesia, and sent to Berlin. Men and women were positioned repeatedly for several minutes between two x-ray machines aimed at their sexual organs. Their seared flesh was prime for infection, which many died from. Void of anesthesia, men had their testicles sliced off and sent to Breslau.

The man in charge of life and death at Auschwitz/Birkenau, Dr. Josef Mengele, oddly enough loved the gypsy children as much as he hated them. He had a soft spot for them and would give them treats of chocolate and candies. In turn, the children would call him "Uncle Pepe". This Uncle facade allowed Dr. Mengele to get close to the children and made it easier to take them to the children's barrack, nicknamed "The Zoo", in order to be primed for medical and scientific experiments.

In July 1944, the order was given from Berlin to close down the Gypsy Family Camp. Those strong enough to be moved were to be sent to work camps, while the others, mostly women and children, were to be liquidated in the gas chambers. At the end of July and early August 3,000 men were marched out to walk the long distance to the work camps with nothing for survival but the meager clothes on their backs..

"Night of the Gypsies", August 2/3, 1944, the SS rounded up the rest of the gypsies by luring them out of the barracks with the promise of water and bread. Since it was well known by the SS that the gypsies would not go quietly to their deaths, the SS was prepared. After the gypsies realized what was going on they fought back with their bare hands but they were no match for the clubs and guns of the SS. The gypsies were loaded onto the lorries and driven to the gas chambers. Dr. Mengele drove the children under his care to the gas chambers and led them straight to their death. The gypsies fought for their lives until their last breath.

Figures for the number of gypsies killed during the holocaust range from 200,000 to a conservative 500,000. As gypsies could not read or write, many were not registered at the camps and if they were registered, a simple 'Z" was placed where their name should be. Most gypsies were either killed in transit or where they were captured with no record of their deaths. A more realistic number of gypsy deaths is between 1.5 and 4 million, 80% of the European gypsies, slaughtered at the hands of the Nazis.

Dr. Josef Mengele escaped while in custody of the Allied forces and led a long life in South America until he died in 1979 in a drowning accident in Brazil.

The gypsies still await recognition for their suffering.

    A Song for Gypsy Magick

I walk along the beach at night
The waves crashing on the white sand and depositing their
    foam on the rocks
A heavy mist rolls in with the sea breeze
    She appears
She dances lightly up to the water
The hood of her robe falling from her head.
Her red hair glistens in the mist and she spreads her arms
As if to embrace the sea and bring the mist to her bosom
She takes to herself all the magick of the night.
I sit on a rock in a field in autumn
Stars glimmering in a dark sky
    She appears
Sitting astride the crescent moon, bare feet dangling in the sky.
Her eyes sparkle and outshine the stars
Her smile makes the bright moon seen pale.
She stretches out her arm as if in benediction
And the earth is bathed in a pale golden light.
I walk through the woods on a summer’s day
And in a clearing I see paths leading in all directions.
As I wonder which to take
    She appears
Her eyes flash and dance and seem to hold all the
    wonders of the universe
Her smile lights up the summer sky.
With her dancing eyes she beckons
And I feel a soft cool hand in mine.
We start down a little path
The air is filled with the fragrance of roses
The laughter of children is carried by the summer breeze.
A hawk swoops majestically in the sky
And in the distance a unicorn frolics in the pasture.
We round a bend and a grey bearded man smiles and points to an
empty chair by an oak tree before a group of young boys.
She turns and her smile lights up the sky again.
And then I hear her whisper softly,
    "Love….Welcome Home".

    Fortune Teller

    fortune teller

"Your future lies within his eyes"
Were the words she said to me
The lady with the crystal ball
So I paid her asking fee

She smiled as she took my hand
And began to read my palm
Saying ~"please, be still my child
I'm not going to cause you harm"

She told me of my past mistakes
    And the lessons already learned
Smiled at me when I understood
My trust for her now earned

She gazed intently upon my hand
And told me of things she knew
    Things no-one else could understand
Of dreams that within me grew

My future she described so clearly
Like I'd lived it all before
And with a confidence she knew me
Before I'd walked right through her door

She began to tell me of the one
With the eyes that knew my soul
    Whose love and understanding
Had begun to make me whole

She told me I must follow my heart
And to walk my path and smile
For my future had been written
And my life was now worthwhile

I thanked her for her insight
And for confirming all I felt
She smile then softly and said "Dear child...
It's your own cards you have dealt..."

Tea Time: What Having a Daily Cup (or Three) Can Do for You

    by Robin Warsaw

Tea is hot. Fueled by reports of its health benefits, tea is becoming an increasingly popular beverage choice.

You can see the change in an average U.S. supermarket. The tea section used to be small, with just a few types, mostly regular or flavored black teas, clustered together. Tea boxes sat meekly, often ignored, compared to the overpowering presence of the many coffees nearby.

These days, there are shelves and shelves of teas-black, oolong, white, green, as well as herbals (which, technically, aren't tea at all, but we'll get to that in a minute). Teashops are springing up everywhere, not just in cute, touristy spots. Even coffee chains have expanded their tea selections. And bottled teas are making inroads on the American soft-drink psyche.

Studies of tea's possible benefits, from preventing cancer and cardiovascular disease to curbing obesity, have stirred up interest. These days, it's hard to know what's hype and what's real, so let's read the tea leaves to find out:

    What color is your cup?

All teas, no matter what their color, are made from the leaves of the same plant, Camellia sinensis. Not so long ago, tea for most of us meant black tea, the traditional brew often taken with lemon, milk and/or sweetener. Black tea gets its color from undergoing full fermentation, the oxidation process that creates different types of tea.

Oolong teas (frequently served in Chinese restaurants) are semifermented, while green and white teas are unfermented.

Fermentation affects the protective flavonoids, natural antioxidant compounds called polyphenols, contained in tea. These contribute to tea's health-boosting potential, along with other compounds.

"Antioxidants help protect our cells from attack by free radicals. When free radicals attack your cells' membrane, protein and DNA, they cause damage that can accumulate and lead to the development of chronic diseases," says Diane L. McKay, PhD, FACN, an antioxidants researcher at the Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging, Tufts University.

So which color tea delivers the best dose of flavonoids? You're probably thinking, "Green tea, of course," because that type has received so much attention lately.

The answer's not that simple. Green and white teas are higher in flavonoids called catechins (also found in chocolate, grapes, berries and apples), but black and oolong teas are higher in the flavonoids theaflavin and thearubigen. "Different types of flavonoids can have both overlapping and unique effects in the body," says Dr. McKay.

What's more, the amount of antioxidant power in your mug also depends upon how much tea is used, how hot the water is and how long it steeps before you drink it. Decaffeinated tea has only slightly fewer flavonoids. If you leave room for milk, you're reducing the overall amount of antioxidants you'll get per cup.

To complicate things further, the form of your tea makes a difference. Fresh-brewed hot tea has the highest antioxidant levels. Below that comes instant tea, then iced tea and, at the bottom, bottled teas. Researchers at Oregon State University found that bottled products, even those based on green or white tea, had 10 to 100 times lower antioxidant activity than brewed tea.

    Drink to your health

While tea has been in use for centuries, scientific study of tea's benefits in human subjects is relatively recent. Yet animal research (think laboratory mice) and a growing number of investigations with humans are building a better picture of how tea might help protect our bodies.

a.. Cancer: The compounds in tea show promise in blocking breast cancer cell growth, protecting against prostate cancer, reducing stomach or esophageal cancer risk and preventing skin cancer.
b.. Cardiovascular disease: Green tea consumption lowered mortality from cardiovascular causes and all causes in general (but not cancer) among 40,530 Japanese adults. Black tea helps blood vessels function better, which may lower blood pressure, and reduces cholesterol.
c.. High blood pressure: Tea drinking protects against developing hypertension, lowers blood pressure among older women and reduces the body's response to stress.
d.. Neurodegenerative disease: Tea may offer neuroprotection against the destructive actions that contribute to Alzheimer's disease.
e.. Weight loss: This one's still unclear. "There is some preliminary evidence that some of the flavonoids found in green tea might slightly increase the rate at which the body burns calories," says Dr. McKay. "Of course, more evidence is needed before any conclusions can be drawn." Translation: when ordering that cup of mango green tea, forget about buying the gooey cinnamon bun to go with it.
    How about herbals?

Herbal teas aren't made from the Camellia sinensis plant. They are infusions of leaves or flowers from other plants, each of which has a variety of unique compounds. Most do not contain the same antioxidants found in regular teas.

Although herbal teas are sometimes used for medicinal benefits, there's little scientific data showing they work. "Someone might recommend that you drink chamomile tea to relax, but the evidence we have supporting this assertion is practically nonexistent, " says Dr. McKay. That doesn't mean they might not help you, but science hasn't proven it yet.

Some herbal teas (or their oils, in concentration) have shown effects, mostly in laboratory test tubes or animals. Oregon researchers found that spearmint tea protects against cancer-causing changes in mice and rats. Dr. McKay conducted a review of the evidence that showed chamomile had antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and cholesterol- lowering benefits, while peppermint oil (much stronger than the tea) relaxed gastrointestinal tissue and soothed pain in animals. She's also currently testing whether hibiscus tea lowers blood pressure. Her preliminary findings suggest that women and adults over 50 might benefit.

    Tea tips

a.. Tea might not be the magic bullet for all our health ills, but there are many good reasons to make it a regular choice-especially if you use unsweetened tea to replace nutritionally empty soft drinks!
b.. Consider drinking three cups of tea daily, whether black, oolong, green, white or any combination of those. Decaf tea is fine. All appear to benefit health.
c.. Take your tea hot, or brew your own iced tea and drink it soon after brewing. You'll get the most antioxidant boost from those types. Such protection fades quickly with time, so bottled teas have far less benefit.
d.. Steep tea for five minutes to release most of its antioxidants.
e.. Watch for possible caffeine side effects-restlessnes s, insomnia-if increasing the amount of tea you drink. All teas and tea extracts have caffeine (the amount varies widely), except those labeled decaffeinated.
f.. Tea is generally safe, but it blocks iron absorption from foods and supplements. Don't drink it at the same meal with iron-rich foods or when swallowing supplements. Large amounts of green tea may also lower the effectiveness of anticoagulants.

    Soul Garden

    Soul Garden

I planted a garden today within my soul,
I looked deep inside and saw the soil was barren,
So I fertilized it with patience and tolerance.
The ground was cracked, dry and full of yellow clay,
But the rain softened it as I dug and hoed,
Until it became smooth and fine, so fertile,
With my hand I removed many kinds of weeds,
    There names were regret, sadness and fear;
    Even so, some seeds remained,
So I removed them with trowels of loving kindness.
I became aware that before I could plant flowers,
Still, more work would be needed.
And so, I had to wait for a while
    for the mystery of time,
To allow forgiveness to bring my garden alive.
Then, how beautiful it was, for anything was possible!
I planted so many various colors of every kind,
Yellow daisies for hope, marigolds to bring energy,
White roses for peace, and violets serenity,
Lavender fragranced all throughout with love,
So I sprinkled some trust to help it all grow well.
My soul is really blossoming now, new blooms everyday,
I know that as long as I keep the weeds at bay,
And very carefully nurture all that I have planted,
That my garden will be perennial,And when I leave this earthly place,
The only part of me that will remain,Will be the fragrance of Love.

    Another beautiful day, lovin it!!

    Good Morning

Well I thought i would follow up with my last post before all the dandelion info haha.  Still contemplating the Samuari Info as I posted it on my other page.  But have found a second job, actually went crazy here on Friday with the phone constantly ringing.  But after the interviews and all was said and done.  Through this whole time and while i waited so long was that in the end my gut was telling that this is not a good idea.  I was fighting that because of my current situation and how things got to get done.  But i have decided now that there is a reason that my gut is telling me that, that i am not aware of yet and all will be well and will work out.  I am going to have some faith and stop stressing.  I have a job lined up for the summer if i so choose to take it and i am still mulling that over.

Now on the website thing for my work.  Well I have found someone who will do it for me and I think at no cost but will have to confirm that.  I now just need to give him the information needed for the site and we will see what happens.  I am rather excited about this prospect as I think with any business, a website just branches you out further to those that are not local in your area that can find your brochures or business cards.  So we will see and of course most ppl today like to bring up the info on the computer before checking you out too so anything to help my business get up off the ground the better  .

I have some more packing to do today but since it is so beautiful out it probably won't be anytime soon lol.  Thinking of taking the kids to the lake or park.  I will do it later as I am making some progress on it.  I am kinda sad about packing as I like my place and have made it my home.  It took me a bit to do that but i finally did and now i am packing it up again to try and make another home my home and a part of me doesn't want to do that no more.  If I am going to do that again it wants to be MY home, a home i bought so i can truly make it my own.  Oh well not there yet I guess.  So it is looking bare in here so it is starting not to feel homey no more and I dont' like that either.  So the sooner i get into this other place and try to make it home the better, I just dont' think that is going to happen right away.  Lol maybe i am just getting old and moving just doesn't have the same appeal it used to.

Well if i am to get anything done today i must go.  Have a wonderful day yourself and hope the sun is shining wherever you are in the world.

    Peace, Love & Light Everyone.

Don't fight the dandelions, Enjoy them.

    Love Those Dandelions

This is the fourth in a series of articles on the benefits of dandelions. The other three articles are linked below.

    The Setting

If you have ever visited the Peace River District of Alberta in June, you will have seen fields of glorious yellow. Nowhere else in the world have dandelions thrived as they have in this northern section of the globe. Americans know this region as the gateway to the Alaska Highway. The main road through the region leads directly from Edmonton to Mile Zero of the Alaska Highway.

How did this part of the world become dandelion paradise? Well, one of the early settlers knew that dandelions are an excellent cure for arthritis, and there wasn't a dandelion in site for hundreds of miles. She asked her European relatives to send her some seeds, and Mother Nature looked after the rest.

    Bane or Blessing?

True, the dandelion is not native to North America, but does that make it a pest? Russian thistles, yellow star thistle, and mustard thistle are not native here either. My legs are scratched all summer long and right into winter, and I am always trying to pull thistle pricks out of my fingers. I hate them with a vengeance, and I have not yet thought of anything which would redeem them as being useful in some manner. My friends a little farther south tell me that mustard ??? drives them crazy, too.

Dandelion should not be falling into that group of plant pests. It does not hurt anyone. It is nutritious. It does not spoil any crops. If growing in a grain field, the seeds won't even show up in the threshed grain, because they flew away long ago.

I rarely have dandelions shoot up in my garden, because I do too much digging to allow them to settle in comfortably. The boulevard lawn beside our city property, though, is ablaze with the yellow wonders twice a season, usually in June and August, and in hot summers as early as May and July. When we first bought this property, I dutifully dug up all the roots. What a waste of effort! I won't do it again. By the next summer, all my neighbors had sent me millions of seeds from their boulevard to make sure that mine looked as colorful as theirs.

Now the City comes and sprays the boulevard about once every two years. That effort is not only wasted. It is dangerous to our health. The spraying is done in the middle of the day, with children playing on the sidewalk, breathing in the spray and even getting it on their legs. The dandelions take no notice of the spraying anyway. Their roots reach deep down into the soil where the poison will never reach them. The plant may show a bit of stress for a week, but by the following month, it will be as healthy as before.

    The Benefits of Dandelions

Okay, the only way you can get rid of dandelions organically is to dig up the ground constantly, unless you are right there all the time and can pull each plant out as a young sprout.

Seeing that you can't get rid of them, why not learn to love them? Children are very fond of the plant. As a teacher, I got many a dandelion bouquet as a love offering, and I always had a vase waiting to display them. Mind you, my mother had taught me never to touch the plant, because the milky sap leaves dark stains on clothes.

Let me give you some good reasons why you should not feel guilty about loving dandelions:

    • The deep roots bring nutrient up to the topsoil which have been leached down to the subsoil.
    • The plants will keep a lawn green without watering, because the juicy leaves don't dry out as easily as grass.
    • Dandelion is the perfect companion plant to grass.

Oh, I know. No one else lists dandelion as a companion plant to anything. Well then, let me be the first one to do that. Yes, dandelions help to keep grass healthy and well-nourished. That makes it a companion plant. So there!

    Supplementary Benefits of Dandelions

I never let dandelion go to seed, because I have found out what to do with the flowers, and no, I don't make dandelion wine. The enormous amount of sugar in it negates the supposed health benefits in my estimation. I simply eat the flowers, and I have written about that in my article, "Don't fight the dandelions, eat them." And if you are a chocoholic, eating dandelion flowers will take away the craving completely.

    © Traute Klein, biogardener

Don't fight the dandelions, Use them as medicine.

Dandelions heal and cleanse, but their milky juice also attacks cells which are foreign to the body, thus getting get rid of warts and calluses. Third article in the series on dandelions.

    Series on Dandelions

This is the last article in a series of three on the benefits of dandelions. The first one explains how I eat them, and the second one encourages you to drink them. Both articles are linked below along with other articles on plants with health benefits.

    Known Medicinal Benefit

Eating and drinking dandelions certainly has medicinal benefits. I have been told all my life that dandelion stimulates the liver to help the body to clean itself out. That is why it is popular in the spring, because that is the time when Europeans think of going through their annual "spring tonic." Whereas North Americans think of shedding pounds every spring, Europeans prefer to clean the toxins out of their system.

Evidently, dandelion stimulates more than just the liver. When I told my family physician what article I was working on, he reminded me of the meaning of its French name. Obviously, the word "dandelion" is derived from the French "dent de lion" meaning "tooth of the lion" because of the shape of the leaves. The French, however, prefer a more earthy name for the plant, "pissenlit" which literally means "piss in bed." Obviously, the French people have discovered that the plant is a diuretic, i.e. it stimulates the urinary system.

    Warts, Calluses, etc.

I have, however, discovered that dandelion can be used as an external remedy to remove abnormal skin formations. A few years ago, just to experiment, I started dabbing dandelion juice on a little wart which I had on a finger of the left hand. Every time I picked a lonely flower off a plant, I would dab before I popped the flower into my mouth. By the time all the plants were asleep under a blanket of snow, I started wondering what had happened to my wart, because it was nowhere to be found. As a matter of fact, to this day, I can't remember on which finger it had been.

When I told this story to a friend in the sauna of the swimming pool, he had an even better story to tell me. He was plagued by several painful plantar warts on the bottom of his feet. A herbalist told him how to get rid of them. He packed his socks full of juicy dandelion plants and walked on them. I don't remember how long it took, but he did get rid of the warts.

      Effective Ingredient

I have read that the effective ingredient in dandelion is the latex. That is why the white juice is so sticky. I have successfully used the same type of juice from a great variety of wild plants. Most of them are related to dandelion and sport the same pretty yellow flowers. There is one plant, though, which does not look anything like a dandelion, and its flowers are a beautiful dove blue. It grows wild on my land. It is tall enough that I can pick it without having to bend down. I appreciate that.

This article gives a cure for warts. I have written another article on their prevention, based on the realization that unnatural developments are caused by deficiencies. The article is linked below. Even if you get rid of your current warts, you will get them back or else get similar problems unless you correct the nutritional deficiency which causes them.

I appreciate having a natural remedy for warts, corns, and calluses, because I am allergic to the main ingredient of over-the-counter remedies, ASA.

      Dandelions and Soil Health

The much maligned dandelion is the only non-native North American weed which has brought benefits to the environment. Read about it in my latest article in the series, "Don't fight the dandelions, enjoy them."
The much maligned dandelion is the organic gardener's friend. It is a great companion plant to grass, so if you are growing a lawn, you might as well love those dandelions. They not only improve the soil, they are a barometer of soil health.
