May 31 My Thoughts this Morning.......Well now, I sit here contemplating on what i should post for this page. As i have another page but I post different things for each page. Not sure why i do that but i do. I have alot that I would like to post but not sure if I want to do that on this page as I was trying to keep this page strictly for energy work, holistic information etc.... and it is hard because i have such a variety of interests and want to post them all
Also been contemplating a website for my work (Healing Touch) and how I would do that. A website that clients or possible clients can go to and see what it is all about and how it can help you. I think that would be a good idea actually, it is the cost that I am concerned with and would it be worth it.
So as i sit here with my coffee lol I also contemplate on how I so need a second job and have applied for many, is it meant to be even if it has to be? I have to have one right now but that doesn't necessarily mean it is meant to be for me. Why i don't know but have to go with the fact there could be a reason whether I like it or not. I will still go out today and try to find one though.
So I am thinking of posting some info on the Samurai Culture as I have the upmost respect for these people even if it is a little bit away from what I have posted so far we all could still learn from their ways and if anything you will walk away a little bit more knowledgable on the culture if anything else. And hey who knows you just might find it just a tad bit interesting yourself lol.
Well I am off to embark on the job hunting and a few other errands and will be back to pack haha, sounds like so much fun eh? Maybe I will post that info this evening.
Love & Light to you all
May 29 Crystal and Creating Harmony/BalanceCrystals and Creating Harmony/Balance (excerpt from Crystal Medicine: A Clinical Approach to Healing Mind, Body, Spirit) Each of us seeks to find something new which, will take us to the next level in our lives. As humans, we constantly need something to believe in, have faith in, and have hope for. It could be from the simplest pleasures of having a good day to the beginning of a new relationship, good health, or self-balance. Believing, hoping, and having faith that we will find what we seek is the life-thread, which keeps us, going to the next minute, the next day, the following year. Balance. This is the bottom line. We strive all our lives to keep our emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual being in balance. When we are balanced, our "whole" self works in conjunction with all our other elements. When we are not in balance, we allow ourselves to be more susceptible to illness or dis-ease. Keeping this delicate balance is up to you! In order to maintain harmony and balance, the tools have been provided here. We can strive for balance within ourselves and everywhere we look. Consider how our bodies re-balance as the seasons change , how a women's menstrual cycle is similar to the moon and how our birth, life and death cycles are related to the cycles of nature. The natural harmony and rhythm of life is all around you. All you have to do is tap into it. The proponents of Yin and Yang shows us how everything is relative to it's opposite. Learn how homeostasis can be detected in the energy of our Chakra centers and auric field. The Root Chakra can help us become grounded in the reality and physical energy of the earth. This allow us to find the pulse or rhythm in life by simply realizing what "I have". The Sacral Chakra is our actual center of gravity. The body swings from the pelvis therefore, this area should be open in order to "swing in balance" with life. This chakra offers the free flow of energy and emotion. When it is opened and flowing like a river, it easily connects with the heart. The Heart Chakra is oriented to self-acceptance This chakra is related to love and is the integrator of opposites in the psyche: mind and body, male and female, persona and shadow, ego and unity. Finding acceptance is finding it in your heart. Crystals for Harmony and Balance: Amber brings stability to life. Use at the Solar Plexus Chakra Amethyst balances the physical, mental and emotional bodies. Use at the Third Eye Chakra Aragonite is stabilizing, rebalancing. Use at the Root Chakra, as an essence or under the pillow. Celestite is a teacher of truth. It brings deep peace and relaxation. Use at the Throat Chakra. Emerald offers truth and acceptance. It balances the physical, mental and emotional bodies. Use this stone at the Heart Chakra. Galena is the "stone of harmony" and brings balance to all levels of the aura. This stone is grounding as well as opens the mind. Can be used at the Root Chakra as well as the Crown Chakra. Lapis Lazuli is the "take charge of life" stone. It brings truth and corrects imbalances among the spiritual, mental and emotional bodies of energy. This deep blue/indigo stone with gold flex is versatile and works on the upper chakra system. Carnelian anchors and motivates, stabilizes and encourages vital life energy. Use at the Sacral Chakra. May 28 The Bone Goddess
May 27 ReflexologyToday I want to give you some info on Reflexology as I also did some work in this. It is amazing and fascinating and does work. I have a chronic illness and I find it helps me and if i could do it more often i am sure i would be doing better but that is not possible right now.
Reflexology is a natural healing art based on the principle that there are reflexes in the hands, feet and ears that correspond to every part, gland and organ of the body. Through application of pressure on these reflexes, reflexology relieves tension, improves circulation and promotes the natural function of the related areas of the body.
This complementary form of therapy is useful for treating ill health, and effective in maintaining good health and preventing illness. Reflexology aims to treat the body as a whole and endeavors to get to the root cause of disease and treat this, not the symptom. The human body is a magnificent machine with thousands of parts working together to keep the body functioning at optimum levels. The negative effects of emotions, attitudes, stress, lifestyle and diet can throw the body out of sync, causing malfunctions. The goal of reflexology is to trigger the return to homeostasis - a state of balance. Reducing tension and inducing relaxation are the most important steps toward achieving this. When the body is relaxed, healing is possible. Reflexology has enjoyed a lot of popularity recently for several reasons. In today’s world we are exposed to high levels of stress in our jobs, our homes and travels. Stress is without a doubt one of the main causes of physical and mental pain and suffering, as well as contributing to making symptoms of other diseases or conditions much worse. Reflexology is a great stress reducer. People are turning more and more to alternative or natural health care which focuses on pro-active maintenance and holistic or entire body well-being. Traditional 'western' medicine tends to focus on reactive and specific treatment of disease or symptoms. Reflexology offers an all natural therapy which does not require anything other than gentle manipulation to stimulate the body's natural healing mechanisms to normalize and heal.
BENEFITS OF REFLEXOLOGY
HISTORY
It is not surprising that, new forms of therapy are not so new. Much of what is alternative practice, which is "new" to many people, can be traced back hundreds, sometimes thousands of years. Reflexology has roots reaching way back in ancient history when pressure therapies were recognized as preventive and therapeutic medicine.
Egypt contributed a valuable piece of evidence in a pictograph dating back to 2500-2330 BC found in the tomb of an Egyptian physician, Ankmahor, at Saqqara.
The patient on the left has his right hand on his right knee and his left hand under his right armpit. The other patient is opposite. There is a relationship between the kind of problem the patient has and where the practitioner touches. This determines the points of pressure he and the patient use.
The hieroglyphics above reads: "Do not let it be painful", one of the patients says. The attendant replies, "I do as you please." This knowledge of foot reflex therapy may have been lost to antiquity had it not been for the inquiring medical minds of the late 19th and 20th centuries. People intrigued with the concept of reflex therapy brought on a resurgence of interest in the study of reflexes. The study and development of reflex therapy by pioneering Europeans and Americans laid the foundations of reflexology as it is known today. The scientific basis of reflexology had its roots in neurological studies conducted in 1890s by Sir Henry Head of London. In 1898 he discovered zones on the skin which became hypersensitive to pressure, when an organ connected by nerves to this skin region was diseased. After years of research Head established what became known as "Head's zones". The head physician at the Hospital for Disease of Ear, Nose and Throat at Hartford, Dr. Fitzgerald divided the body into zones, which he used for his anesthetic effect. By applying pressure on a specific body part he learned to predict which other body parts would be affected. Fitzgerald established ten equal longitudinal zones running the length of the body from the top of the head to the tips of the toes. Each finger and toe fall into one zone. The theory is that parts of the body found within a certain zone will be linked with one another by the energy flow within the zone and can therefore affect one another. Eunice Ingham, probably made the greatest contribution to the establishment of modern reflexology. It was through her tireless research and dedication that reflexology finally came into its own. She used zone therapy in her work but thought the feet should be specific targets for therapy because of their highly sensitive nature. She charted the feet in relation to the zones, and their effects on the rest of the anatomy, until she had evolved on the feet a map of the entire body. Technique A practitioner looks for sensitive areas and blockages in the foot. The sensitive areas are usually evident since the client will physically respond in some way. Apart from any pain response from the client, the practitioner is able to detect blockages. The tissue may be atonal, or somewhat squishy, or it might be tough. Both of these situations suggest zonal imbalances. The reflexologist might encounter crystalline deposits, which feel like little grains of salt under the skin, or other related blockages which, when felt, should be crushed. The removal of a blockage in the foot improves the blood and nerve supplies as well as the energy flow to the corresponding body area. The correct amount of pressure to be employed is that which would elicit discomfort or pain in a sensitive area, but which is still relaxing and pleasurable. In other words, that which "hurts good." Enough pressure should be used to elicit sensitivity to ensure that blocked reflex areas have been located and sufficiently accessed, but not so much pressure as to make the client tense or cause him or her to dislike the treatment. Often, however, the more pressure that is used, the better it feels to the client because more endorphins are released into the bloodstream. (Endorphins are the body's pain killers or blockers. It is naturally produced "morphine".) Also of course, the amount of pressure that is comfortable will vary from client to client. The actual technique or "stroke" used by the reflexologist is to use one hand to hold the foot back and straight, and use the other to do an inchworm-like motion on the foot. For the most part, the practitioner applies the inside or medial edge of the thumb at a 45 degree angle to the foot. The movement of the thumb is just like that of an inchworm. The thumb moves or slithers along, taking tiny bites or steps, burrowing along the entire foot. The thumb applies a fluid and continuous movement and pressure. There are five basic pressure-point techniques that can be used on the feet and the hands :
Different methods and approaches have developed over the years from the East and the West. New approaches and techniques are also rapidly evolving as therapists around the world develop and share their experiences and clinical findings. Two methods to note are : micturition or bowel function. Allergy to aromatherapy oils, if used, can also occur. • The Rwo Shur Method • The Ingham Method • New approaches Reflexology as a Holistic Healing Practice Reflexology is a holistic practice in that it affects us on all levels; physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. The feet are simply powerhouses. They have been regarded reverentially for a long time. For example, Jesus washed the feet of his disciples; people are anointed upon their feet; disciples kiss the feet of their gurus. Indeed, if the eyes are the windows to the soul, then the feet are reflections of it. Moreover, reflexology grounds us. We tend to live in our heads and not in our bodies and with our feet, figuratively, not on the ground. Yet, we cannot feel secure unless we are solidly and securely connected to the earth. Reflexology restores our connection with the earth by energizing the feet and bringing our awareness into them. The Body-Mind Interconnection There are several body-centered therapies which recognize the body-mind interconnection and hold that many physiological problems are related to the holding in of emotions and various attitudes. That creates physical tension and energetic blockages that shape the structure and functioning of the body. Even though the practice of reflexology does help dissolve energetic blockages and thereby helps release or resolve withheld emotions and to foster spiritual growth, classical reflexology theory does not address the role of emotions as do other body-centered therapies. Moreover, none of those therapies, to my knowledge, adequately address the spiritual aspects of physiological disorders. For that reason, to expand the scope of reflexology, I am grafting the knowledge--along with my growing spiritual awareness and discoveries--onto the reflexology techniques that I use. People often ask me how I can work on feet. The truth to tell, it is a labor of love. It is my predilection. I am meant to do it and I accept my task with joy. ©1995 Qi Journal. Ray Beck is a Reflexologist, freelance writer, and a lawyer, located in Chicago, IL. He conducts workshops on Reflexology and on the legality of natural healing at two holistic learning institutes He has appeared on several TV and radio programs including: CNN, the Jenney Jones Show, Cable NBC, and Medical TV. RESEARCH IN BRIEF While research clearly indicates that Reflexology benefits patient’s health in both chronic and other ailments, it is not a substitute for medical treatment, and should be considered as complementary to any type of medical treatment. Over 300 reflexology research studies all over the world have shown reflexology to be a remarkably effective as an approach for helping people resolve a wide variety of their health challenges. The American Academy of Reflexology conducted the first reflexology research study to ever be published in scientific medical literature, when the study appeared in the prestigious journal, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Vol. 82, #6, December 1993. This ground breaking study was reported around the world, including in Journal Watch, which is published by the same people who publish the New England Journal of Medicine. Women's Health· 95% of women who experienced painful menstruation (amenorrhea) found foot reflexology to be effective. (2) · Reflexology improved the symptoms of 46% of those suffering from pre-menstrual syndrome (PMS). (37) · Among menopausal women provided with foot reflexology, 17 (40.48%) of the women had fully recovered, 20 (47.62%) had significantly recovered, 4 (9.25%) had effective results and 1 had ineffective results at the conclusion of the study. (26) Men's Health· Reflexology was found to be 87.5% effective for men experiencing impotence and 100% effective for other male sexual dysfunctions. (40)* · Reflexology work was shown to reduce the size of an enlarged prostate (hyperplasia). (38)* Senior's Health· "...older adults experienced significant improvements in mental and physical well-being, including reductions in blood pressure and pain levels ... considerable improvements in their ability to perform 'activities of daily living,' increased psychosocial well-being, and significantly reduced daytime sleepiness and pain. Participants also reported greatly improved perceptions of control over falls and had reductions in resting diastolic blood pressure." http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2004-01/ori-cmw010704.php Perhaps most importantly for those who work with the elderly, the cobblestone-mat walking meets a need "to develop simple, convenient, and readily accessible exercise programs that will reduce health problems and improve the quality of life of the aging population." Exit interviews indicated that participants "enjoyed the activity (90%), ... "would continue the activity if it were available (75%)...and "(90%) would recommend the activity to friends or relatives." (39)* · Alzheimer's patients saw a reduction in body stiffness and arthritis as well as alleviation of the illness's symptoms of restlessness and wandering. (1)* Pain Relief· Reflexology work reduces the pain of those with kidney and ureter stones. (27)* · Reflexology reduced the pain of 66% toothache patients as well eliminating the symptoms of 26%. (42)* · 19% of headache sufferers ceased taking medication following reflexology work. (19)* Recovery from Surgery· Post surgical patients who receive foot massage and medication report "significantly less" agony than those on painkillers alone. (35)* · Reflexology work was found to be more effective and safer than the standard treatment of catheterization in patients with uroschesis (the keeping in of urine), retention of urine following surgery. (44)* · Those receiving foot massage experienced less pain over time than those who did not following laparoscopic sterilization. (34)* · Reflexology and guided relaxation "appear to be" effective, noninvasive techniques for promoting psychological wellbeing for patients in the postoperative recovery period following coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery. (33) Employer Benefit· Reflexology saved one Danish employer US$3,300 a month in fewer sick days for employees in addition to improving the work environment. (45)* Influence Symptoms· Not only do constipated individuals evacuate their bowels more quickly when receiving reflexology work but individuals with normal bowel function do also. (12)* · Diabetic individuals provided with foot reflexology and hypoglycemic agents showed a significant change in measures of the disease as opposed to those who received hypoglycemic agents alone where no significant change was observed. (14)* · For individuals diagnosed as diabetic, hypoglycemic agents work better for those receiving reflexology work as well as showing "marked improvement" in measures of the disease. (15)* · Symptoms of coronary heart disease (chest distress and angina) disappear in those receiving foot reflexology work as well as causing a drop in blood pressure of 25/5, results better than those achieved with medication. (13)* · "Reflexology massage" was found to be as effective as nasal irrigation for alleviation of chronic sinusitis. (41) · The results indicate that reflexology does offer "some therapeutic benefit" to multiple sclerosis patients especially in the first 6 weeks of treatment, although the treatment sessions need to be regular, and the benefits seem to diminish after twelve weeks. (30)* · Specific reflexology treatment was of benefit in alleviating motor; sensory and urinary symptoms in multiple sclerosis patients." (31)* · Individuals with kidney infection who received foot reflexology and medication recovered more quickly than those who used medicine alone. (43)* · When applied to those with migraine headache, it was concluded that the reflexology treatment was at least as effective as the Flunarizin treatment and may be classified as an alternative non-pharmacological therapeutic treatment that would be particularly appropriate to those patients that were unable to follow pharmacological treatment." (28)* Reflexology Improves Quality of Life· Alzheimer's patients saw a reduction in body stiffness and arthritis as well as alleviation of the illness's symptoms of restlessness and wandering. (1)* · "...older adults (who followed a program of stepping on a reflexology mat) experienced significant improvements in mental and physical well-being, including reductions in blood pressure and pain levels. ...considerable improvements in their ability to perform 'activities of daily living,' increased psychosocial well-being, and significantly reduced daytime sleepiness and pain. Participants also reported greatly improved perceptions of control over falls and had reductions in resting diastolic blood pressure." (39)* · Reflexology offers some therapeutic benefit to MS patients especially in the first 6 weeks of treatment, although the treatment sessions need to be regular, and the benefits seem to diminish after twelve weeks. (30)* · Specific reflexology treatment applied to multiple sclerosis patients was of benefit in alleviating motor; sensory and urinary symptoms." (31)* · 100% of the cancer patients receiving reflexology work benefited from an improvement in quality of life: appearance, appetite, breathing, communication (doctors), communication (family), communication (nurses), concentration, constipation, diarrhea, fear of future, isolation, urination, mobility, mood, nausea, pain, sleep and tiredness. (6)* · Hand massage applied to children with acute leukemia receiving high dose chemotherapy was effective in decreasing nausea, vomiting, state anxiety, pulse rate and blood pressure. (4)
May 25 Getting back to basics Learning to Live Life Holistically"Getting Back to Basics" Learning to Live Life Holistically
The selections below on "the simple way of holistic living" come from the "Hua Hu Ch'ing", the oral teachings of the Chinese master, Lao Tse. The "teachings are simple: if you try to make a religion or science of them, they will elude you. Profound yet plain, they contain the entire truth of the universe. Those who wish to know the whole truth take joy in doing the work and service that comes to them. Having completed it, they take joy in cleansing and feeding themselves... This unadorned path leads to peace, virtue, and abundance." (1) Practice "undiscriminating virtue: take care of those who deserve it and equally take care of those who do not... extend your virtue in all directions..." (2) Learn to "embrace all things... hold no resistance to any idea or thing... rid yourself of the concept of separation: male and female, self and other, life, and death... enter into harmony and oneness." (3) "Every departure" from these principles "contaminates one's spirit... Over many lifetimes, the burdens of contamination can become great... There is only one way to cleanse oneself from these contaminations... and that is to practice virtue... (4) ...selflessly offering assistance to others, giving... one's time, abilities, and possessions in service, wherever and whenever needed, without prejudice concerning the identity of those in need. If your willingness to give blessings is limited, so also is your ability to receive them." (4) "Stop striving for admiration... Place your esteem on God... Live in accord with It... Share with others the teachings that lead to It, and you will be immersed in the blessings that flow from It." (9) "Let your ego go. Let the senses go. Let desires go. Let conflicts go. Let ideas go. Let the fiction of life and death go. Just remain in the center, watching... and then forget that you are there." (10) "Along the way, avoid thinking of the Oneness of All as unusual, exalted, sublime, transcendent... Because it is the Oneness, it is beyond all that. It is simply the direct, essential, and complete truth." (14) "To the ordinary being, others often require tolerance. To the highly evolved being, there is no such thing as tolerance because there is no such thing as other... Never hate, never resist, never contest... always just keep learning and being... (15) Loving and hating, having expectations: all these are attachments. Attachment prevents the growth of one's true being... Be attached to nothing, let your very existence benefit all..." (15) "Those who cultivate themselves for the sake of all: to these, the whole truth of the universe is revealed." (16) "If you want to worship God, first discover It in your own heart: then your worship will be meaningful." (17) "There is no one method for attaining realization of God: to regard any method as THE method is to create a duality which can only delay your understanding of the truth." (18) "Within the Great Oneness... all things are seen, all things are understood, all things are forever in their proper place." (20) "The past cannot be kept, however beautiful. The present cannot be held, however enjoyable. The future cannot be caught, however desirable..." Being "possessed by the ideas of the past or preoccupied with the images of the future" causes you "to overlook the plain truth of the moment." (21) So "if you are willing to be lived by God, you will see It everywhere, even in the most ordinary things." (22) "Your nature and the integral nature of the universe are one and the same: indescribable, but eternally present... open yourself to this." (24) "Channel your emotions and life energy toward the light... Without the discipline to practice this, you will tumble constantly backwards into darkness... High of awareness of this subtle truth is gained through virtuous conduct and sustaining disciplines, so also is it maintained" this way. (29) "The only way to understand God, is to directly experience It... The highest teachings are wordless... My own words are... not the destination but a map to help you reach It..." (30) So "can you be still and look inside? If so, then you will see that the truth is always available, always responsive..." (31) "Truth is everywhere you turn... if you can let go of it with your mind and surround it with your heart, it will live in you forever." (33) "...your existence is determined by the energies to which you connect yourself. If you attach yourself to gross energies - liking, hating, rejecting, indulging... - then you will lead a series of heavy, attached lives. This can go on for a very long and tedious time.... So join with higher things... by holding to that which is refined... you can go anywhere without ever leaving the center of the universe." (34) "The beginning of immortality... is insight... because your spirit follows you through cycle after cycle of life, death, and rebirth, you have the ongoing opportunity of cultivating insight... Refined over time: insight becomes pure, unwavering" (35) "It is entirely possible for you to achieve immortality and to experience absolute joy and freedom forever... by practicing undiscriminating virtue.... Practicing kindness and selflessness, you naturally align yourself with God." (36) "Difficulties are the very road to immortality: by meeting them calmly and openly, however they unfold, and by joyfully developing yourself in response... you become as natural and as complete as God Itself." (36) "Respect the earth as your mother, the heavens as your father, and all living things. Care for them, you care for yourself. Give to them, you give to yourself. At peace with them, you are at peace with yourself." (37) So "remain quiet... Discover the harmony within your own being... Embrace it!" (38) It is "part of the cosmic law, that what you say and do determines what happens in your life" so "cultivate yourself to act in accord with it, bringing moderation to actions and clarity to living... This is the profound and simple truth: you are the master of your life and death. What you do is what you are..." (40) "Simply see that you are at the center of the universe... Accept all things as being part of your infinite body. When you perceive that an act done to another is done to yourself... you understand the great truth." (42) "In ancient times, people lived holistic lives...." (43) "They did not overemphasize the intellect, but integrated body, mind, and spirit in all things. This allowed them to become masters of knowledge rather than victims of concepts. If a new invention appeared, they looked for the troubles it might cause as well as the shortcuts it offered. They valued old ways that had been proven effective, and they valued new ways if they could be proven effective." (43) "If you want to stop being confused, then emulate these ancient folk:" "Understand that true growth comes from meeting and solving the problems of life in a way that is harmonizing to yourself and others. If you can follow these simple old ways, you will be renewed." (43) May 23 It's getting to be that timeWell, it is going on the end of May. Just spent the long weekend with my fiance and stepson and that will be it until the end of June. Time is sure flying by and I have been so busy, doing what I dont' know but been busy. The kids have outings before school is out and then there is packing which i haven't found time to do yet but I better get on it as I am moving out the end of June to move in with my fiance as we have found a place that is big enough for all of us
I am looking forward to being with my love again as I have missed him so much. Being away from him wasnt' easy like i thought it might have been as time passes but actually was quite the opposite, it was harder as time passed not easier. Must be true love then
Between now and the end of June i will try to post some good info on energies or the earth as we must take care of her as she has taken care of us. I am trying to convince my other half to do a page where ppl can learn from him as he is a mechanic and knows his stuff. Hmm maybe he will once we move. I think ppl could benefit from his advice or teachings. And it could save them money if they wanted to try to do it themselves. Hmm who knows.
Now our weather for this time of year has been crazy. Colder than usual and then one week it would feel like August so it is all over the board, no middle ground whatsoever. Driving me crazy I know that. Now i took up some plants over the weekend to bring them back to my place. Chives and Fire Witch and they are calling for frost tonight go figure. Every year I notice more and more changes with our weather and how we hardly have a summer anymore and how our winter is no winter anymore. Kinda scary actually. All this effects our wildlife and our spring runoff we count on to give us water. Everything gets effected on way or another. Anyway i could go on and on about that stuff and that could get boring haha. Point is be good to Mother Earth as she has always been good to us and giving of her, we should not take it for granted and destroy her and destroy what she has given us.
Blessings to All May 14 Earth's CommandmentsEarth's Commandments May 13 Mothers DayWhat is a mother May 07 Weeping Willow TreeThe Weeping Willow, very widely planted as an ornamental tree, is a cultivar, Salix × sepulcralis 'Chrysocoma', derived from a hybrid between the Chinese Peking Willow and the European White Willow. Almost all willows take root very readily from cuttings or where broken branches lie on the ground. There are a few exceptions, including the Goat Willow and Peachleaf Willow. One famous example of such growth from cuttings involves the poet Alexander Pope, who begged a twig from a parcel tied with twigs sent from Spain to Lady Suffolk. This twig was planted and thrived, and legend has it that all of England's Weeping Willows are descended from this first one [1]. Willows are used as food plants by the larvae of some Lepidoptera species - see list of Lepidoptera which feed on Willows. A number of willow species were widely planted in Australia in the past, notably as erosion control measures along watercourses. They are now regarded as an invasive weed and many catchment management authorities are removing them to be replaced with native trees Uses
The bark of the willow tree has been mentioned in ancient texts from Assyria, Sumer and Egypt as a remedy for aches and fever, and the Greek physician Hippocrates wrote about its medicinal properties in the 5th century BC. Native Americans across the American continent relied on it as a staple of their medical treatments. The active extract of the bark, called salicin, was isolated to its crystalline form in 1828 by Henri Leroux, a French pharmacist, and Raffaele Piria, an Italian chemist, who then succeeded in separating out the acid in its pure state. Salicin is acidic when in a saturated solution in water (pH = 2.4), and is called salicylic acid for that reason. In 1897 Felix Hoffmann created a synthetically altered version of salicin (in his case derived from the Spiraea plant), which caused less digestive upset than pure salicylic acid. The new drug, formally Acetylsalicylic acid, was named aspirin by Hoffmann's employer Bayer AG. This gave rise to the hugely important class of drugs known as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

May 05 Understanding and Healing The Human Energy Field
Understanding the Human Energy Field The Human Energy Field is always receiving energy from the universe. This energy sustains your entire existence: body, mind, and emotions. Your aura is the energetic skin which holds all your inner energy bodies and outer body together. Your energy chakras are like the pores in the energy skin which regulate the flow of universal energy into and out of the body. Your energy field is the instrument of wellness and the source of illness. Barbara Brennan said it best: "it is essential that we deal with the deeper meaning of our illnesses. We need to ask, what does this illness mean to me? What can I learn from this illness? Illness can be seen as simply a message from your body to you that says, 'Wait a minute: something is wrong. You are not listening to your whole self; you are ignoring something that is very important to you' A return to health requires more personal work and change than simply taking pills prescribed by a doctor. Without personal change, you will eventually create another problem to lead you back to the source that caused the disease in the first place." Your Aura: Skin of Inner Energy Bodies * you are a vibrational energy being and composed of light and sound energy. Your Aura: Skin of Inner Energy Bodies
* you are a vibrational energy being and composed of light and sound energy. Your Outer and Inner Energy Bodies
* are "Spinning Wheels of Light" (the translation of the Sanskrit word 'chakra'). Healing the Human Energy Field Your energy field is the instrument of wellness and the source of illness.
May 04 Another day they say & who are "they" anyway? Good day to all.
I am trying here to fix up my page the way I want it and i am getting frustrated lol. I am trying to show my background but yet be able to see my words and what i have typed on my page. I found went i went to transparent the modules it did but it also did the words too. I don't want all these blocks showing or modules whatever you call them i want it clear where you see my background and what i write. hmmmm I will somehow figure it out. I am relentless that way haha.
Anyway have been doing some figuring with my life haha if you can really do that. I am moving the end of next month, my fiance decided to move up my way with his son to live with me....wow wonder if that was a good idea lol. Almost sounds like a death sentence to me lol. haha i do love him to death though lol. So in any event I am moving which i hate with every fiber of my being, lord do i ever hate moving. So while trying to build a clientelle up for my healing touch I still need to bring in some more money. I babysit right now as that is what is feasible for me as i still have a child not in school, he will start this fall. The kids are great but alot alot of work and I just dont' have the flexibility that i want for my kids if i am needed. So my best friend cleans home and has a name for herself now and we thought to make it a business together by the fall and that will give me the flexibility i will need if a client calls and wants an appointment or if the school calls and i have to get one of my children, this allows me that flexibility or freedom to be there for my kids too. But yet still bring in a decent amount of money to get by on. This of course will be until I get a full clientelle of ppl so that i can strictly do Healing Touch which is what I truly want to do.
I am having a hard time being able to tell the kids mom that i won't be able to watch her kids by the summer because she so needs me and doesn't want to lose me. So i am trying not to let it go to my heart but it is to some degree, I dont like to hurt or disappoint ppl if I don't have to. Sometimes I am just to soft hearted.
So if i do this, then i have to figure out how am i going to bring in money for the 2 months of summer or do I just take those 2 months and get my name out there to build this business, can I afford to do that? Hmmmm see things to think about and mull over.
There, it has been done lol. Well i must go for now and stop my ramblings haha but in the meantime Peace, Love & Light
May 03 Healing TouchI am going to post a little bit of information on what I love to do. There are some ppl who have never heard of it or have and dont know what it is. So this is what I love doing and hope to very successful at it.
What is Healing Touch?
Healing Touch is a biofield therapy that is an energy based approach to health and healing. It uses touch to influence the human energy system, specifically the energy field that surrounds the body, and the energy centers that control the energy flow from the energy field to the physical body. These non-invasive techniques utilize the hands to clear, energize, and balance the human and environmental energy fields thus affecting physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health and healing. It is based on a heart-centered caring relationship in which the practitioner and client come together energetically to facilitate the client's health and healing. The goal in Healing Touch is to restore harmony and balance in the energy system placing the client in a position to self heal. Healing Touch complements conventional health care and is used in collaboration with other approaches to health and healing.
How Is it Useful?
Scientific research continues to suggest that HT is helpful in promoting relaxation, reducing pain and managing stress. It can also be effective in speeding tissue and bone healing and strengthening the immune system. Many people describe an increased sense of well-being after treatment. Healing Touch is used for surgery, pregnancy & labour, headaches, back and neck pain, bone fractures, cancer, grief, arthritis, depression, PMS, viral infections, high blood pressure, fibromyalgia, and many other situations. It is useful in combination with traditional medicine as part of an effective health care program.
Peace, Love & Light Everyone
May 02 PussyWillowsPussy willow (Salix discolor) is a member of the willow family and is native to vast regions of Canada, from B.C. all the way to Newfoundland. It has a preference for the shoreline of lakes, rivers and ponds, where there is plenty of soil moisture. Pussy willows are dioecious, meaning there are male and female flowers that are distinct and borne on different plants. The flowers are difficult to tell apart while young, but as the pussy willows mature, the pollen-bearing male flowers are fairly easy to distinguish from the seed-bearing females. The soft, fuzzy bud we refer to as a pussy willow is really a young flower spike, called a catkin. It’s a cute name, but just because a pussy willow is soft and fuzzy like a kitten doesn’t mean it’s as harmless as one—pussy willows are part of the Salix family, which means they contain a chemical called salicylic acid, a precursor to one of the most popular over-the-counter pain medications: acetylsalicylic acid (ASA), more commonly known as Aspirin. Apparently, the indigenous people of North America and early Eurasians discovered they could derive some pain relief from chewing on the bark. However, as great as the analgesic benefits of salicylic acid are for humans, willows don’t manufacture the chemical for our benefit—they use it to increase their resistance to infection. Research is currently being done to see if salicylic could also be used as a natural pathogen fighter for a variety of crop plants. If you want to grow pussy willows worthy of oohs and aahs, how do you go about it? Well, the first thing to realize is that there is nothing you can do in the spring to turn run-of-the-mill pussy willows into champions. The size and number of catkins are determined largely by the previous year’s growing environment. Consistently moist and rich soil are key to growing the best quality and largest catkins, which is why pussy willows are perfect trees for low spots in large yards. You’ll also want to choose your willow branches wisely. Look for those with the greatest number of plump buds. If they aren’t plump enough, sit them in a vase of warm water a few days. It won’t guarantee success, but it might give you a slight edge. Don’t forget that while the pussy willow is a wonderful species, there are many other willows that are hardy here and just as intriguing. ‘Polar Bear’ (Salix silicola) is one that comes to mind. Not only does it have lots of buds, it also has furry, silver-white and blue foliage. |
